(13,747 posts)your S.S. goodbye. In fact they'll steal every penny and rob every account they get their hands on. This should be a big message to people. tell everyone that if the repugs take power they will steal your S.S..

(6,678 posts)give little coverage to the puke's longstanding plan to destroy Social Security and Medicare.
I guess the owners are afraid their taxes will go up otherwise.
Despicable and just more evidence that this is a stupid, ignorant country where people routinely vote against their economic interests.

The majority of the revenue comes from subscriptions so turning every election into a horse race and promoting Trump as a normal candidate helps their subscriptions. The media is all about high profits and adding to wealth, not the preservation of democracy.

(6,678 posts)Look at how effective "Medicare Advantage" has been in inducing seniors to willingly switch to private insurance (albeit probably most have no idea that's what happened). The cons will come up with something similar as their preferred method to destroy Social Security. Lawson made that point recently on the Thom Hartmann show.
So, a sudden cutoff is highly unlikely. pukes have long-term schemes which flummox the average 'Murican's lack of knowledge and short attention span. Look at how under evil old bastard raygun legislation was passed to cut Social Security via raising the retirement age. Didn't take effect for 25 years.

(4,503 posts)Every paycheck I have earned has had Social Security and. Medicare taken out. The more I earned more is taken out. Now when the corporations raise their prices so their CEOs and other upper management can have higher salaries they don't have to pay Social Security and Medicare on all of it. There is a limit on taxing Social Security. It is around $150,000 then you don't have to pay into it after you go beyond that annual salary. You're done for the rest of the year.
So we pay higher prices on everything so they can have a higher salary that they don't have to pay Medicare and Social Security tax on the income. We have to pay the higher prices and it seems to me to be an extra tax just because they can.
No wonder Social Security is going broke.
When I was working and raising my two sons and was on food stamps for 6 months. I still had Social Security and Medicare with held.
Poor people never get a break.

But what are they going to do with the army of old and disabled folks who will be out on the street as a result? Have they even thought that through?
It's weird how those who get the most up in arms about homeless people and their inconvenient habit of sleeping on the sidewalks or wherever are the very same ones who want to take away the sparse social safety nets that are just barely keeping millions more people from having to do the same thing.

(22,582 posts)They complain all the time about what an annoying nuisance homeless people are, while plotting to create laws that would make even more people homeless. Sounds a bit counterproductive to me!
