A jury found him guilty. That's not a witch hunt, that's a court of law

Reporter: Do believe E. Jean Carroll?

Stefanik : No of course not

Reporter: A jury found that Trump sexually abused her

Stefanik: The media is so biased

Reporter: It’s not the media, it’s a jury that found he abused E. Jean Carroll

"Guilt" is a criminal determination. This was, and is, a civil litigation.

I mean, if we want to climb on our high horses about vernacular vs. legal, shouldn't we be more careful about the words we use?

In what world is a subject line plus a direct quotation from a Q&A a rant?

Because the jury did not find he committed rape.

Yet Judge Kaplan ruled that, as the word is commonly understood, he did commit rape.

That silly judge--doesn't know the technical meaning of terms.

Here's Merriam-Webster:

guilty
adjective
ˈgil-tē
guiltier; guiltiest
Synonyms of guilty
1: justly chargeable with or responsible for a usually grave breach of conduct or a crime

Note the disjunctive.

So, yeah. For purposes of criminal law, Trump has not been found guilty.

For purposes of common understanding, he has been. I'd say what the jury found he did was a grave breach of conduct.

And what, exactly, you gain from this particular quibble escapes me.
