Just spoke to my health insurance agent.

They were all notified by the big insurance companies that they will be pulling $$$ from Medicare-age people to give a little more to those under age 65. So, kids, hold on to your hats! Old folks’ lives will get more expensive. They will be certain to keep themselves well-paid, of course.

Otherwise, that is simply illegal under the ACA. "Discrimination based on race, color, national origin, gender, age, or disability is prohibited under Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act. "

Unfortunately MA policies are not regulated under the ACA, as they are instead simply a device for the owning class to pilfer medicare revenue.

My source? Well, that would be the Medicare site.

If you join a Medicare Advantage Plan you’ll still have Medicare, but you’ll get most
of your Part A and Part B coverage from your Medicare Advantage Plan, not Original
Medicare. You’ll have the same rights and protections you would have under Original
Medicare

https://www.medicare.gov/Pubs/pdf/12026-Understanding-Medicare-Advantage-Plans.pdf

Is Medicare Advantage Part of the Affordable Care Act?

Medicare Advantage, like all health insurance plans, is impacted by the ACA. There are also laws that require Medicare Advantage plans to offer at least as much coverage as Original Medicare, so you won’t suffer any loss of benefits with an Advantage plan.

If Medicare Advantage is free, with dental, vision and hearing, and policy holders get free cash every month, just to have a policy, why aren’t homeless and the poorest among us fully covered with insurance? They could buy food from the free cash.
With the 100’s of billions of dollars they spend on advertisement, why can’t they afford to send out agents to areas of homelessness and poverty stricken rural areas to sign those people up for this amazing free health care.

National Health. It would eliminate the need for Health Insurance companies and less $$$ would go into lawmakers’ pockets. It is a racket just like war is a racket. I am just a little jaded. Can ya tell?

If people don't qualify for Medicare, they can't get an Advantage plan.

Seems fairly straightforward to me.

Last year switched to Medicare Advantage for retirees AND ALL currently working state employees.
No choice, take it or leave it. I don’t think all current employees are ALL 65 or older. Just a guess.

Even if you're under 65, you may still qualify for Medicare benefits. Most people assume you must be 65 to sign up for Medicare, but there are exceptions:1

If you're under age 65 and you’ve received disability benefits from Social Security or the Railroad Retirement Board for at least 24 months, you’ll automatically get Medicare Part A and Part B.
If you're a disabled federal, state or local government employee who is not eligible for Social Security or Railroad Retirement Board benefits, you may be eligible for Medicare 24 months after you qualify for disability.

That's from Humana, one of the ruthless private providers. You'd think, if there were any possibility of signing up everyone under 65, they'd be the ones to push it.

I can't comment on your belief about what happened in your state, other than to say I think you may be mistaken.

Was switched from Blue Cross Blue Shield to Humana Medicare Advantage. And they also switched ALL retirees over to Medicare Advantage. That retirement ins was part of the 30 year retirement package. They use “Medicare” as a lure title. They sell insurance to all age groups. There is Dem Legislation requiring them to drop the title Medicare.
I retired here, and have many co workers retired from here and I have many friends that still in the work for the state. I stay in close touch with many as an active Advisory Committee Member for the College Department. All are stuck with Medicare Advantage or have to go seek other private ins, there by forfeiting that retirement benefit.
All the under 65 current employees are on “Medicare” Advantage or have to seek other options and are not getting any assistance from the employer.
Other states are following the same course.
The retirees that stay on the Stat’s Advantage plan, are dropped from Normal Medicare, and pay hell to switch back, and under some situations are not allowed to switch back.
I spent a year with the VA trying to get my Medicare back, switched without my knowledge, or the VA was gonna restructure my Veteran care. The VA administrators said to get out from under the scam.
I finally did so, and by doing so, lost the retirement health package I paid into for 30 years.
May work fine for some, but I have a personal investment into hating them, as do many of my retired and current employed friends.

I can only speak to my nightmare. I have heard stories from others, but that’s second hand. I would not wish this on anyone, except maybe all GQPers.
We all just need to proceed with any insurance with Caution.
Heard Randi Rhodes say today, in Florida her home insurance went from $700 plus a month up to $1500 this year, A Month!!! Ron is too busy fighting Wokism and defeating Trump.
Anyway have a great night. Appreciate your feed back and information.

It is a scam. Reputable insurance agents won't sell it. Do your homework because if it sounds too good to be true you can bet that is true.
