Supposed to happen March 4th, but judge Chutkan has scheduled another trial on April 2nd. This just affirms what everyone knew, the trial wasn't happening in March.
Waiting on the DC Appeals court to give us an idea when Jack Smith can get Trump to trial.

(3,913 posts)it still leaves enough time. This case is the one, and the only one, which I think will take place before the election.

(13,560 posts)In matters of such national importance to voters in determining whether to vote for a convicted criminal, one would think the courts could rule within days, not weeks. His immunity claim is ridiculous. How was this not thrown out immediately?

(4,731 posts)why some people think getting Slobby to trial before the election is gonna be some magical bullet. I just don't get it.

(32,746 posts)I don't do polls, but polls say that a convicted Trump loses to President Biden.
Picture Trump, forced to sit in a courtroom 6-7 hours a day for 2 or 3 months, muzzled. Sitting there while all of his criminality is laid out in the open for all to see. Did I say he is muzzled? Having to go to court for 3 months will destroy Trump, physically and mentally.
When we get Trump to trial, he loses. Trump has no evidence to prove his innocence.

(15,909 posts)...and even if many of Trump's supporters won't give a damn if Trump is convicted, a conviction (no matter if it's appealed for years to come) will sway a few thousand voters. That could make all the difference.
We need every advantage in saving our democracy we can get.

(24,033 posts)Could be much sooner, if SCOTUS denies cert.
According to former impeachment counsel Norm Eisen.
Looks like Chutkan is anticipating that potential timeline.

(22,461 posts)Could judge Cannon Screw everything up here, with the Florida trial? Could she be waiting, just to mess things up in the courts?
