General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHey folks! Anyone else being spontaneously "subscribed" to RW newsletters?
During the past three months, I have been inundated with subscriptions to newsletters of the financial, economic, political, social, and religious right wingers. Now Im not talking about idiocy like the commentators on CNBC or FOX Business. Im talking about slanderous, malevolent, grotesquely false statements about Democratic politicians, particularly the president, who are grossly undermining the fiscal stability of the United States, and how you were going to be driven into financial ruin if Democrats are allowed to be elected to office
any office, high and low.
I spend at least a minute a day unsubscribing from new lists upon which Ive been placed, and its beyond annoying. In addition to that, the headlines are enough to cause my blood pressure to spike a little bit. I wont repeat any of them here, but I know you all get the Idea.
Obviously, Im not alone, but thought I would share this with my good friends here at the (sic) DU.
As they ask at the end of a long or seemingly endless moderators diatribe on MSNBC, Your thoughts?

(25,493 posts)That used to be a thing on social media and in right-wing groups. Not sure if it is anymore. They would sign up people they knew were liberals or Democrats for spam RW e-mail. All it really takes is one, and that one sells the addresses to the rest.

Unsubscribing only proves that the email address is current. It's a lose - lose situation. I don't receive much email spam but I immediately create filters to delete any that I do. Still, you shouldn't be having to put yourself out for these bastards.

(112,479 posts)I found a more successful tactic to get removed from the mail list immediately instead of waiting up to ten days is to hit the Reply link, write the request to be unsubscribed, and include an image of Melania in one of her artistic modeling poses--it expedites the process. Some may argue that Melania doesn't deserve that treatment and normally I would agree, but her personal record as Third First Lady is cringy.

(25,493 posts)Your e-mail address might have been in a data breach and then sold.
Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about it, though you can check to see if your e-mail address has been compromised here:

If your e-mail is listed in any breaches, it's a good idea to change the password for the associated accounts.

He's everything I thought.
