(173,616 posts)Please read this amicus brief. It is not your normal legal brief and is easy to read.
Remember that Alito based the Dobbs decision on the writings of two witch hunters. Here we have real history complied by real historians. This is a really effective amicus brief where the lawyer who signed the brief did a good job of not screwing this brief up.

The opening of this brief made me smile
some of us have served as President of the American Historical Association, the Organization of American Historians, the Southern Historical Association, the Society for Historians of the Early American Republic, and the Alabama Historical Association.
Our expertise encompasses the Civil War and Reconstruction, the Southern redemption, and American history more broadly, including politics, voting, and elections. We understand that assessing historical precedent is crucial for resolving whether 1) Section 3 of the 14th Amendment covers the president and 2) whether its implementation requires an additional act of Congress. We have professional interests in helping the Court reach its decision by appropriately analyzing probative historical evidence.
For a law nerd, this was a fun read.

(173,616 posts)The briefing in this case is excellent and if the SCOTUS follows the law and history, then TFG will be disqualified
