Donald Trump is losing control over the unstable MAGA base his violent rhetoric pushes past the brink of sanity, and the proof is a decapitated federal workers head, a new analysis contends.
Salons Amanda Marcotte Thursday took a hard look at the disturbing news to come out of Pennsylvania Tuesday night when Justin Mohn, 33, posted YouTube video demanding violence against the government with his dead fathers head in full view.

(197,160 posts)Trump followers have been scared away from more organized violence, Marcotte writes. In truth, they just dont want to get arrested
and are using conspiracy theories to justify their own cold feet.
But as Trump blasts his followers with violent rhetoric and the main base comes up with strange excuses, its the mentally unwell people on the fringes who are pushed far enough to take action, Marcotte concludes.
All that hate and anger is going to go somewhere, she writes, and often the target is close to home.

(13,003 posts)That no matter who wins the presidential election, Trumps cult followers will have reached critical mass and explode.
If Trump wins the Trumphumpers will take it as a sort of mandate to finally be able to go around doing whatever to whomever they please. They believe that they are all true Patriots and will all be pardoned by Trump, the reincarnation of Hitler.....
If Biden wins they will revolt and it will be across the entire nation, not just confined to 5 thousand at the Capitol, and all of them learned their lesson and this time will come armed..........
Just think about it and what do you think is more than possible that could happen.........
I predict that the chaos on the run up to the election, the day of the election, and the aftermath of the election will be unlike anything ever experienced in the entire history since the founding of our nation.......
Sorry, just being pragmatic given all that we have seen and are seeing right now..........

(3,894 posts)and won't be able to do much since he'll word everything just right so that he can't be held responsible for any violence.
So many people who wondered out loud whether Trump would try to stay in office after 2020 were proven right.
Like a humongous asteroid hurling towards us, but knowing it won't get here for days, weeks, or months............and us able to just watch it coming for all that time?!?!

(1,416 posts)Won't be surprised if we see a return of the guillotine. Those who seek to amp up and control a mob tend to get eaten by the mob. Trump is no different. In truth, he's far less qualified than historical predecessors.

(15,633 posts)The suggestion that there were ever any 'guardrails' or reins intended on the loony base - has no grounding or support at all. The fomentation of chaos and disorder has been an intended result of the screeching rhetoric all along. And this unhinged individual's actions say, 'loss of control' - only if you think crazy and violent action were not envisioned and taken into account. (or in fact not intended at some level)
(i.e., only if you're still not coming to grips with who and what you're dealing with)

(51,546 posts)Arresting and jailing MAGA idiots for violence is a deterrent.
This is the case with many violent extremist groups whether it's Islamic or White Supremacist or anything else. They want unstable, scared, angry idiots to do violence on behalf of the group's leaders and sponsors.
I'm a long time advocate of ending the white excuse for terrorism. Terrorism should not be excused as mental illness just because a white person is doing it. Being beheaded by a white Penn State alumni in suburban Philadelphia is not much comfort to people who would rather not be killed by anyone.
It's disturbing for some people to accept that the terrorists murdering Americans look like this:

(7,604 posts)He's not appalled by the murder and beheading, IMO. He sees this as collateral damage. There will always be extreme actions, and this is one of them. But they are part and parcel of the general MAGA movement, which employs chaos whenever convenient. As Trump is a sociopath, he's not encumbered by a conscience or shame or guilt. He's not going to discourage any violence done in his name, or any mention of his name associated with violence. He has not ONCE denounced violence by any person even indirectly sympathetic toward his political advancement. He never will.

(12,502 posts)I wish that this was pointed out just as much as it is with Trump. Those that support him and those that are trying to compete with his sick fantasies.
DeSantis, Comer, Abbott, MTG, the list is endless.
I'm feeling like all of those that are not Trump but support his bullshit are getting seriously downplayed. They need to be called out by name or identified more than vaguely in every article about this kind of stuff.
