I know some of you will say this is a frivolous or even sexist post. But in our very visual culture, presentation matters. It matters even more to a female candidate who will be judged very harshly by both men and women. We may not like it ( I don't, and I'm female) but it is what is. I can't relate to people who judge others by their phone or their car or their house or whatever. Doesn't mean people (voters) don't do that.
Haley is always dressed impeccably. That is not easy to do. She has to look "good" but not that good, She can't look too flashy, but she has to look stylish. Her clothes have to flatter her and be comfortable for long days of campaigning. In Iowa and New Hampshire she wore very interesting and stylish sweaters and jeans or casual pants without looking sloppy. She looked attractive, but not like she was seeking attention.
Although I know that many of you (let's face it, most of you) don't care at all, this attribute will help her with suburban women and maga men alike if she ever actually got the nomination. That's one reason I don't want her to win.

(20,256 posts)Also I feel that suburban women who admire her style are probably doing so at a subconscious level which makes her more "likeable". So they definitely need to be reminded often what is really important.

(4,272 posts)Mrs. txguitar here. And I do not need anyone telling me what I need to be reminded of. I think and reason for myself. I have critical thinking and comprehension skills. Do you?
senseandsensibility
(20,256 posts)Your reading comprehension skills are lacking and you are way too defensive. I was obviously referring to low information voters, which is a well known phenomenon among people of both sexes. Not everyone follows politics as we do, and they are influenced by different things. No one is insulting you or women.

(113,755 posts)which meant she didnt have to alter her wardrobe style in any significant way. Comfortable, neat, practical is who she is.

(20,256 posts)To me, her wardrobe was all business and that's appropriate considering the office she was running for. But Haley's wardrobe is way more stylish and figure flattering, while still being appropriate and comfortable. That's a hard thing to do. It's the stylish part that I think widens her appeal.

(6,245 posts)I remember how Hillary Clinton got that fresh layered haircut and it changed her so dramatically. She looked serious and capable. And not at all geeky. No more headbands.
I also remember how she made pantsuits acceptable and women no longer had to wear skirts and spiky heels.
I had really hoped that it would make a difference, but the complete smear job that was done on her made it impossible. People said she "wasn't likeable" and that was a reason not to vote for her.
More important than a few Supreme Court justices and abortion rights...
The reasons why people vote the way they do can be very painful to observe.

(20,256 posts)about her wardrobe in my OP because that's not really the point I was trying to make. I was trying to talk about how it could influence low information voters or suburban women. But I am a clothes lover and I reluctantly have to give her her due.

(4,381 posts)kind to point out her good taste in fashion etc. That means little or nothing to me because I cannot even listen to her babbling. I know what she stands for and cannot understand how ANY woman can be or support the GOP

(13,200 posts)They like a candidate who smears dirty shoe polish on his face, sports a dyed combover greased into a 50s ducktail and wears a smelly wrinkled cheap suit and pants styled by Omar the tent maker.
But I guess theres no accounting for impeccable taste.

(20,256 posts)if they think anything about cheato is attractive. I just think that suburban women (more educated and moderate) would relate to Haley' style, and may even admire it.
