Taylor Swift won Album of the Year. It didn't matter that Midnights was her least inspired album since Lover, if not since her debut. It didn't matter than her third win in 2021 for Folklore, a much more accomplished work, was met with, at best, polite applause. It didn't matter that once more, a deserving album by a woman of colour, was passed over. It didn't matter that Taylor herself was genuinely surprised. It didn't matter because as she dragged a reluctant Lana Del Rey onto the stage, the applause was warm and enthusiastic.

None of it mattered because this is 2024, and we are facing the most consequential election since 1860, and Taylor is an opponent of Donald Trump, and this year she will have the opportunity to play her part keeping the American Experiment alive.

And it doesn't matter to me which team is better on the day of Super Bowl LVIII, I will be rooting the the Chiefs. And Taylor will have the biggest, brightest spotlight when she campaigns for Joe Biden and the Democrats later on.I have no doubt she will go all in this time around. The Grammy Audience knew it. I know it. The RW knows it. "Look what you made me do."
