https://www.thedailybeast.com/ann-coulter-best-thing-trump-could-do-for-america-is-dieAnn Coulter didnt mince her words when asked what former president Donald Trump could do to help us take America back.
Maybe he could die? she wrote on X.
The one-time MAGA supporterand author of In Trump We Trustbecame a born-again anti-Trumper in recent years, admitting she was a very stupid girl to support Trump in the early days of his ascendance. Shes since flip-flopped in her stance on the former president, calling him the biggest wimp ever to serve when he bailed on a total border shutdown plan she advised.
Trump can barely speak English. Hes a gigantic baby, Coulter told New York Times columnist Frank Bruni before the first Republican debate last August.

(625 posts)how about late September or early October. Then, they can't get another person on the ballot.
And it would be super, super wonderful if TSF hosted a huge GOP party with all the pro-TSF congressfolks at Mar-a-Lago in early October only to have a massive hurricane wash the whole place into the Atlantic Ocean.
In one very convenient swoop, 120+ incumbent congressfolks and most party apparatchiks feeding the fishes off the Florida coast.

(5,351 posts)but here we are. She's been anti-Trump for a while now. Bill Crystal, the conservative commentator, is also anti-Trump, and it's equally odd agreeing with him.
I actually Googled awhile back, and asked if it is morally wrong to pray for someone to die, if you think they are evil, and a danger to the human race. While many articles said yes it is wrong, there was a blog post from a Catholic priest, that said it's not wrong. He said as long as you don't physically harm anyone yourself, but merely ask God, to remove the evil from the world it's OK. So I pray for this every night. It probably won't happen, but hey I figure it doesn't hurt to hedge my bets, to ask.
qwlauren35
(6,309 posts)Removing the evil from the world opens the possibility of true repentance. So, you still can't pray for someone to die. Nothing on this earth is permanent, so pigs can fly, the cow can jump over the moon, hell can freeze over, and Trump can become a good person.
BlueKota
(5,351 posts)I do believe in redemption, but I was always taught there are steps to reaching it.
1. You have to accept responsibility for whatever you've done wrong. You can't deny responsibility, or scapegoat others.
2. You need to make ammends to whomever you've harmed in a significant manner, even if it requires a hardship on yourself.
3. You need to try and better your behavior from then on.
4. Also you have to be able to love others, not just yourself.
I don't see any signs that DT is capable of any of those steps at present. Maybe you're right, and that could change, but he'd have to realize he needs to change, and as long as he continues to think he's perfect the way he is, that's not going to happen.
I am just far more concerned about all the people he has hurt physically and emotionally already, and all the future damage he will reek on even more, if given the chance , than his well being.
Judging his soul is up to his creator, but the Our Father does say, "Deliver us Lord from every evil. Grant us peace in our day, keep us free from sin, and all anxiety." So in reality I am not asking God for anything different than I have in that prayer many times in my life.
I mean think of the millions of innocent lives that might have been saved, if Hitler or Stalin, had just dropped dead of natural causes.
I am not saying my thinking is correct, but it's just how I feel.
qwlauren35
(6,309 posts)Supposedly good and evil are opposites, and if good people can exist, then evil people can exist. Most people are not 100% good. Because humans are amazingly complicated creatures. So, if there is no 100% good person, mortal, then there is no 100% evil person. Mortal. For example, Trump may love his sons. We won't discuss his daughter...
Me personally, I would love to see him die. And it's EXTREMELY not Buddhist of me. Our creed is to do no harm, and therefore say no harm, think no harm. Frighteningly strict, and probably just something to aspire to.
But I don't think Jesus would want him to die. The Buddha would not want him to die. They would want him redeemed.
I think Christianity is not the answer to evil like Trump. In the Jewish faith, in the Muslim faith, there would be a path to his death. Those two religions accept war, and their god killed. It would be reasonable to pray that God would strike Trump dead with thunder and lightning, showing His Will.
There are a lot of clergy right now who are challenged by the fact that their Christian congregants are turning away from the Beatitudes, suggesting that they are not appropriate for the time.
If I were to turn to my Buddhist faith, I would chant that the right thing happen with regards to Trump (and the MAGAts, the impotent GOP in the House, and the entire crisis of our democracy), whatever that is, and accept that it is not up to me to determine what that is. It's just too big. For if I were to suggest that I had the insight, power, wisdom, omnipotence, foresight to recognize exactly what must happen and how it must happen, then I would have to be a god.
So. What if Trump dying isn't the best thing for America?
BTW, my fantasy - not my prayer - is that he is tortured into a public confession. On television, on Fox News, on Truth Social, on X and every conservative outlet. And the form of torture, a la George Orwell, would be to cage his private parts so that he can't move and encase them with hungry rats who gnaw at his genitals. I would want him to confess to his inability to manage his money. To the rape of E Jean Carroll. To pedophilia with Jeffrey Epstein. To knowing that he lost the election, but thinking that money and charisma, and repeating lies over and over would convince people to change the outcome, in any way possible, knowing that he had a group of supporters that were willing to believe anything he said. I would want him to confess to running for election just to best Barack Obama, a ni**er from a poor family who didn't deserve to be president, a man who had laughed at him in front of the entire media community and all over social media, after he couldn't get enough people to believe that Obama wasn't a natural born citizen, and was actually born in Africa (if you say it enough...) I would want him to confess that he went out of his way to make being president as profitable as possible, knowing that he was not as wealthy as he pretended to be, and going along with religious conservatives because it didn't hurt him, even though he didn't believe in any of the tenets of Christianity at all, and in fact, thought Christianity was pure bullshit for losers who don't have the balls to take what they want. And I want him to confess that he thinks that his followers are stupid, ignorant, asshole losers who can't even spot a scam when it looks them in the face. That he has nothing but contempt for them, and thinks the only thing they are good for is to stroke his ego and pay his legal bills.
And then, let him live, crushed and pathetic, with no genitals, no following, no money, the laughingstock of the entire media community.
Better than death.
BlueKota
(5,351 posts)For him humiliation would probably be worse than death.
You also make a good point. I remember studying about the duality of nature where everything and everybody has a good & bad side. Like fire can warm us on a cold winters night and help us cook our food, but it can also burn us, and destroy everything in its path.
I guess I just don't know a constructive way to deal with my anger and fear about him and his brain washed cult. I keep flashing back to the books I read, and the documentaries on what happened under Hitler and Stalin, and dread living under a dictatorship. Everyone keeps telling me not to think about it, because it hasn't happened yet, and may never happen. They also remind me I can't do anything about it, so just enjoy life as it is now. I try to distract myself but it's never easy because my mind keeps wanting someone to stop it before it happens. That's why I fall back on praying for God to stop him.
qwlauren35
(6,309 posts)Sometimes prayer is exactly what we need to be doing. But the Buddhist takes action after prayer. Right thought, right words, right action. Campaign, donate, vote, get others to vote.
The situation with Trump is big. Bigger than one man. Yes, he's the figurehead, but there is so much anger and hate propping him up, that killing him just doesn't solve the bigger problem. There is an entire organization that is using him to advance a conservative cause, and he goes along with it in order to get his ego stroked. They are shaking hands. Killing one does not kill the other. The conservative organizations will just hunt for another ego with which to replace him.
So, pray for the whole thing, not just Trump. Don't assume that you know what would fix this - put it in God's hands.
There was a time when I believed that the conservatives would die off, but now I know that they are recruiting, and young disenfranchised white boys, teens, youth, men are falling under their spell, looking around for someone to blame when the world does not embrace them. And it's not a good thing that women tend to be more liberal, and self-aware, and unwilling to date them. They need prayer too.

(11,767 posts)So, destroy the Conservative Movement, then do as Ann Coulter says.
The Conservative Movement is the only reason that Trump was ever in a position of power in the first place. Trump may have wrested control of the Republican Party and Conservative Movement away from less loud and less vulgar people, but he has not fundamentally changed any of its substance and policy.
Trump could NEVER have been a candidate for the modern (since FDR) Democratic Party. He was a registered Democratic Party member at one point. NEVER ran as a Democrat because he would have never been selected as a candidate. We had a Trump-like figure in Michael Bloomberg run for office and he was eliminated quickly because Liberals may really like certain of their candidates, but we don't do authoritarianism and cult of personality.
ALWAYS REMEMBER that the Conservative movement grew out of the defense of monarchy and aristocratic rule. While America broke away from the Monarchy in England, the idea of hierarchy and that some people are inherently better than others, never really died within the Conservative movement.
Coulter is still a part of that morally bankrupt movement. They just want to get the stink (both literal and figurative) of Trump off of them so they can continue doing horrible things.

(14,689 posts)It would be a much better country if women did not vote. That is simply a fact. In fact, in every presidential election since 1950 - except Goldwater in '64 - the Republican would have won, if only the men had voted.
Why do we let blind people and people in wheelchairs become citizens? I feel sorry for cripples, but that doesn't mean I want them in my country.
My only regret with Timothy McVeigh is he did not go to the 'New York Times' Building.
Trump is like a Shakespearean 'fool': he seems crass because he speaks the truth.
Liberals love America like O.J. loved Nicole.

My hunch says she's going to be coming out with some wild assertions in Feb. to get eyeballs, attentions, ratings, etc. Maybe she wants to be part of the national RW dis-discourse again. Regardless, she's just small potatoes, and any regard I give her is nothing more than morbid curiosity on my part.

However, the grifter in him, makes it more difficult to carry out the agenda Coulter would like to see. trump will turn on a dime for whatever suits him. There is no true allegiance to RW ideology. Its not like shes seen the light, and recognizes hes bad for America. Hes bad for them to ultimately achieve what they want.
