Goofy convoy on Texas border shows MAGA movement one long con

Rex Huppke, USA TODAY
Updated Mon, February 5, 2024 at 1:30 PM EST

... A much-ballyhooed convoy of MAGA patriots descended on a town near the southern border, ostensibly ready to protect America from what right-wing politicians like Gov. Greg Abbott cynically, dangerously and falsely call “an invasion.”

The “God’s Army” convoy was supposed to be a mighty force of 700,000 or more people from every corner of America. It wound up being maybe a couple hundred vehicles parked at a rural ranch in Quemado, Texas ... a Trump rally without a Trump, but with plenty of hucksters selling MAGA merch and grifting the easily grifted ...

Abbott and about a dozen other pro-razor-wire GOP governors were in Eagle Pass on Sunday, hollering and whatnot. Some residents said the recent invasion of Trump supporters from the convoy had been downright scary.

“We are constantly being told that we’re being invaded, and that never felt true until today, when the convoy came to town in anticipation of the governors’ event,” Jessie F. Fuentes told WOAI NBC News Channel 4. “This is political theater by outsiders. The reality is that it has brought dangerous, violent groups into our beautiful, peaceful city. Eagle Pass is safer than most cities in America if you look at crime statistics. This is just a fact. We don’t appreciate these staged events that dramatically misrepresent our reality on the border and that invite extremist groups that pose a real danger to people in our community” ...

2. Residents say right-wing convoy, not migrants, making border town unsafe

Feb 2024

By Michael Karlis on Mon, Feb 5, 2024 at 12:19 pm

"I think the local residents are angry and rightfully so — because their neighborhoods, their golf courses, their shopping areas have all been invaded," Abbott said at the presser, which coincided with a 200-vehicle "Take Our Border Back" caravan arriving in an unincorporated area ...

However, some Eagle Pass residents said the only invasion happening in their city was the arrival of right-wing extremists who traveled with the caravan.

... "Right now, we're being invaded by the crazy people that he has incited to come here and wreak havoc on the community."

... some so-called patriots who traveled with the convoy appeared shocked by the lack of chaos they found in Eagle Pass ...

running Abbott and all his other right wing tyrants out of the state, and out of the country. Then start in on DeSantis in Florida.....

The Texas and Florida people don't realize just how much those two directly aided in the U.S. Nightmare of Covid, as well as a dozen other serious situations in their states.

One of my most favorite disasters by DeSantis was when the U.S. Weather Bureau told him 36 hours in advance that the last major hurricane was changing course and no longer was going to hit Tampa, but collide head on with Fort Meyer and that the storm surge would be catastrophic. He waited until just hours before the storm hit to issue evacuation orders, and then blamed Biden and the Federal Government for not warning them........And that city, two? years later is indeed still largely a catastrophe to all the damaged homes just sitting there. And just after the storm hit, he screamed that Biden was not sending any federal assistance, but Biden had started a ton of Federal assistance on it's way, even before the storm made landfall....
The DeSantis Humpers believed DeSantis and not the researchable truth on both counts. The DeSantis Cult is as bad as the Trump Cult and the Abbott Cult...........

Nineteen Hundred and Twenty Four is going to be more off the wall than any other event in the entire history of the United States all the way back to the Revolutionary War. If these tyranny desiring Republicans keep pushing their toads across the nation, the civil unrest across the nation that happens will make the Civil War look like a minor bar brawl in comparison.

4. Pro-Migrant Pastors on a Bus Meet 'God's Army' Convoy
Mon Feb 5, 2024, 04:08 PM
Feb 2024

FEBRUARY 5, 2024AUTHOR: FIONA ANDRÉ

... Doug Pagitt, a Minnesota pastor who runs the anti-Christian Nationalism organization Vote Common Good, hoped to meet the drivers and engage with them in Quemado. “We’re just going to be around and try to humanize the situation. And not have it be primarily about the disagreement,” he said.

Pagitt said he learned about the campaign last weekend and decided to head south on his organization’s bus, decorated with blue banners that say “Confronting Christian Nationalism for the common good” on one side and “Faith, Hope, and Love supporting democracy for all” on the other.

Vote Common Good’s bus, which started in Minnesota, has stopped in Michigan and Missouri, where it was joined by other faith leaders. Having arrived in Eagle Pass on Friday, they met for a prayer service at the Children’s Ranch on Saturday with groups of locals who help migrants crossing the border.

Pagitt, whose organization has worked to counter the rise of extremist Christian Nationalists since 2018, said God’s Army differs from “old-school Christian Nationalists,” calling them “a variance to the Christian Nationalism disease, that is particular to the time that we live in.” He characterized their mission as “a very fringe view” ...

5. Never Felt Unsafe Until Border Convoy Showed Up

... A clip posted on X, formerly Twitter, by an account using the name Molly Ploofkins, shows a group of people protesting against Texas Governor Greg Abbott's efforts to stem illegal migration on the U.S -Mexico border. Tensions have risen in recent weeks due to an ongoing stand-off between the federal government and Texas lawmakers over which has the right to control border crossings in the Lone Star State.

One woman, standing at the front of the small crowd, speaks into a microphone while holding a placard that reads: "Joseph and Jesus were asylum seekers."

She said, "I've always felt very safe here" and claimed the area "is a good place to raise your children" ...

Newsweek contacted Take Our Border Back via email after publication but has been unable to find contact details for the group in the video as they have not been identified. Newsweek will update this article if this information becomes apparent.

6. Dems say Abbott inciting potential border violence
Mon Feb 5, 2024, 04:16 PM
Feb 2024

by Russell Contreras

Democratic U.S. House members are accusing Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) of inciting violence at the U.S.-Mexico border by using bigoted language about a border "invasion" and encouraging a rightwing convoy to come to the region.

Driving the news: Around 200 vehicles carrying Trump supporters, Christian nationalists and conspiracy theorists have descended on Quemado, Texas for a "Take Our Border Back" rally amid a standoff between Abbott and President Biden over immigration enforcement.

The Democratic congressional members, all from Texas, said Abbott is being irresponsible and is creating an environment for violence instead of looking for solutions to fixing a broken immigration system ...

... "Gov. Abbott understands by now that when he calls this an invasion that he's putting a target on people's backs," Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) said Sunday during a press conference ...

13. When will these goofy idiots quit listening to Abbott, and others like him, and their nonsense rhectoric,
Tue Feb 6, 2024, 03:42 PM

regarding the border and the 'millions' of migrating flooding the gates of the Country, clamoring to be let into the US? When will they finally get that last bit of 'smarts' hidden in that brain of theirs, that they had fallen once again, to the rhetoric and false claims of Abbott and trump, among many others too.

They can't make claims about the super strong economy, record numbers of people signing up for Obama Care, or anything else that Pres. Biden is doing while in office, so they have to make up false claims and such, to even have an issue to try and blast Pres. Biden with. Even their attempts to paint his son (Hunter) as some dire criminal who deserves the death sentence (that's what these failed republican representatives seem to want).

Perhaps maybe someday, republicans will realize that they actually need to have a valid issue to actually act on and try to frighten the American public w/ their constant doom and gloom, and not this crap that djt is sprouting out as usual 'Oh no, Pres. Biden is heading for disaster and such'!!

The more disaster tRUMP encounters (such as today's court rulings against him/tRUMP, a major setup for the scumbag), the more he screams incoherently and mindlessly, like a 5-year-old child who's crying for his milk bottle.
