Grew up a service brat. Also, in Sweden his grandfather was in the Swedish Army.

Kris Kristofferson says he has no recollection of an alleged incident with Toby Keith during a television taping session in 2003. In a feature story about Kristofferson in the current issue of Rolling Stone, actor Ethan Hawke writes about a verbal altercation between the two singer-songwriters at New York's Beacon Theater during a concert celebrating Willie Nelson's birthday.

In a note to Rolling Stone that was forwarded to The Tennessean, Kristofferson wrote, "I'm deeply grateful and was profoundly moved by Ethan Hawke's generous and respectful story about me. I have to say, though, I have no memory of talking so tough to anyone at Willie's birthday party -- least of all to Toby Keith, (if that's who the nameless star is), for whom I have nothing but admiration and respect.”

...Hawke gave a really detailed account.

Just saying.

A Rolling Stone spokesperson told CMT, "We fully stand by this story and Ethan's reporting."

If he says he doesn't recall saying it, I believe he doesn't recall it. That doesn't mean it didn't happen.

There was also the feud between Natalie Maines (Dixie Chicks) and Toby Keith.

...I'd be singing along to,

'Lord. What did I ever do? To deserve one like you? All the pleasures I've known!'

Apologies for the barely remembered lyrics.

...story is that Kris never heard her sing the song while Janis was alive.

Without him knowing, road manager Bob Neuwirth had supposedly taught her the song, and she recorded it after performing it in Nashville.

Urban legend, so fwiw.

I know little about his music. I do know however that he was never in a position to tell Kristofferson how to behave. And that it supposedly happened at a party for a person who was not only a close friend of Kris, but clearly has had similar political beliefs makes it offensive on a whole other level.
