All signs point to Trump taking over the RNC. This can't be welcome news to Republican candidates

Let it happen--maybe more MAGA folks will abandon the creep.

All signs point to Trump taking over the RNC. This can't be welcome news to Republican candidates running for anything. He will drain the RNC dry, taking most resources for himself, picking and choosing a few candidates and denying funds to everyone else.

Trump campaign plans its takeover of the Republican National Committee
Under one scenario, Ronna McDaniel would resign. Under another, she'd remain at the RNC, albeit in a weakened position.

Two sources familiar with the planning, including a Trump adviser, told NBC News that Trump’s political organization is considering a plan that would essentially set up two separate organizations: It would leave McDaniel as chairwoman, but she would essentially be a sort of figurehead. Meanwhile staffers closely aligned with Trump would also be installed and have significant power over party operations.

Under the plan, two Trump-picked co-chairs would be put in place — one to oversee fundraising and the other to oversee party operations. One of the sources named former RNC Chairman Reince Preibus, former Trump administration official and major GOP donor Linda McMahon and casino magnate Steve Wynn, as possibilities to run the fundraising side, while both sources said the operational side is almost certainly to be led by top Trump adviser Chris LaCivita.

“He is a Washington person. I think he likes that," a Trump adviser said of LaCivita. ..............................

It is his nature to glob on to everything, make it his or take credit for it.
He is the Republican Party's bull in their china shop. They have to pay for all the damage.

Back in 2015 when Bernie Sanders changed parties to run for president, he said (paraphrasing) there are only two ways to the White House and one is through the Democratic Party and one is through the Republican Party because only those two parties have the infrastructure to support national candidates.

Same is mostly true for Congress & most State governments, too. Republican leadership doesn't seem able or willing to stand up to the hijacking of their infrastructure by extremists. This could go either way for the country, but one thing is for sure, Trump will suck them dry & leave a huge mess.

Will we see the GOP become fiscally bankrupt in addition to being morally bankrupt? I have faith in the Trump ability to
F—up everything.

I also suspect that if this above happens, he will steal what he doesn’t corrupt.

It would be well deserved, especially since the "GOP" (gag) is just as much to blame for the rise in authoritarianism in this country as cheato is.
