Republicans are mad that Democrats didnt tell them that Rep. Al Green would get out of his hospital bed to vote against their sham impeachment. Theyre so used to winning elections by suppressing the Black vote that they think its a trick when a Black person actually does vote.

Ive no doubt that this self-sanctified Speaker tried to take advantage of a medical situation rather than allow democracy to play out. But its also true that a guy who thinks the universe is 6000 years old might not be very good at basic math.

(17,010 posts)should paint a tunnel entrance on a wall with a sign that says, "This way to the House floor". I say, that would be hilarious. Hehehe!

(10,435 posts)Essentially, when you are in the majority, the minority is irrelevant when it comes to vote counting. You should be able to pass a bill on your own, you should have votes in your pocket if you need them, and you should never bring a bill to the floor if you are unsure it will pass.
Republicans are just a bunch of dumbasses.

It's their own fault their sham impeachment failed.

(13,517 posts)so it still would have been 215-214 and they still lose.

(16,168 posts)And one Republican changed his vote to no. This way they can bring it back for another vote. So without Green, it would have been 215 - 214 and it would have passed.

(16,168 posts)If it had been tied and then gavelled closed, then they couldn't bring it back. I don't fully understand it.
