Comer suggests hes investigating John Kerry for colluding with left-wing environmental groups who he believes may have been funded by Soros

(114,760 posts)Kerrys decades of efforts would have influenced many in the current groups. Kerry wouldnt need to have colluded with them to produce policy.
Hey Comer - ALEC colludes with lawmakers all over the country to BLOCK good environmental progress, and writes anti-environment legislation for you. Investigate that collusion.

(61,092 posts)First off, he has been entirely working on the international diplomacy aspects of climate change. Here, he has to represent the President and US interests working with others to move things in the right direction. Reading reports on the COPs, it is clear this means he often defends US positions that he likely would want to change.
Second, what would collusion mean? I suspect the activist groups likely are not even dealing with the level of technical detail the international deals require. In addition, as you mentioned with ALEC, where they actually write templates of the legislation they want, it is not illegal to be influenced by outside groups.
Remember that before Biden took office, he set up Biden/progressive working groups on various issues. Kerry was on the climate one with the progressive people being AOC and Sunrise (?). Kerry's own past as an activist made this a very successful group that quickly found common ground. That connection is important going forward because Kerry can uniquely reach some of the young people concerned on this issue. They do not think enough was done, but in many articles over the last years, they at least credit him as sincere on this.
This may be why he has already indicated he will be stepping down and will work on the campaign. Given the unexpected minor success of the last COP, thanks to him and his Chinese counterpart, it is a good time to move on and he will be an asset in reaching young people, who there is concern we could lose.
I suspect it is fear that he could do just that that have led to this.

(10,029 posts)And Kerry is (gasp) an environmentalist. Did I forget to mention that he helped to broker the Iran nuclear inspection deal that Trump blew up? And of course, the Soros guy happens to be Jewish. It must be very slow-going with Comer's no-evidence Biden impeachment inquiry, and uppity Hunter insisting on a Congressional hearing in front of the cameras.

(5,410 posts)There is probably more evidence of Comer colluding with Nazis, than there is evidence of
'John Kerry colluding with environmental groups funded by Soros'
He should bear that in mind, because the NEXT House will be controlled by Democrats,
who will then have the investigative powers....
(Perhaps he counts upon the fact that Democratic House members are more interested in
improving life for all Americans, than in investigating and prosecuting Republicans for their crimes)
((although I would argue that the latter case would ALSO
'improve life for all Americans))...

(14,374 posts)You dont present a crackpot theory and then hope like hell you stumble on evidence courtesy of dumb luck. Comer and Company have no clue how to investigate. Who is advising them? Former staffers from the Jerry Springer show?
