The Rising Curtailment of Black History Education in the U. S.

The United States is grappling with growing restrictions on the teaching of Black history, particularly the history of racism and slavery—an insightful revelation from Brittany Lee Lewis, an analyst. The ongoing discourse around this predicament is multi-layered, encompassing legislative measures, educational policies, and broader cultural attitudes towards race and history.

Diminishing Black History: A National Concern

The 'whitewashing' of Black history in educational curriculums is a pressing concern. The practice of either diminishing or entirely omitting significant events and figures from Black history is perceived as an attempt to sanitize the past. Advocates for a more comprehensive teaching of Black history argue that understanding the full scope of American history, including the uncomfortable parts, is essential for fostering a more inclusive society and promoting racial understanding. Critics of these limitations believe they serve to sanitize the past and prevent students from learning about the systemic issues that have shaped the Black American experience. As such, the quest for a more holistic and truthful representation of Black history in American education is far from over.

The Florida legislature is now working on a requirement to teach children as early as second grade that communism is evil and never works, a subject better left to high school and a serious analysis of the pros and cons of all forms of political organization. DeSantis and MAGA are turning Florida into their own third-world country.
