Trumps NATO Comments Could Backfire in Swing States

Playbook: Aside from the obvious national security implications, there are potential political implications to Trumps comment. Its worth noting that the NATO member countries most concerned about future Russian aggression Poland, Finland, and the Baltic states of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia also happen to be well represented in the three pivotal swing states of Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
Just for fun, we dug into the numbers this morning:
2020 margin of victory for Biden: 2.78 percentage points, 154,181 votes
Polish, Finnish or Baltic population: Approximately 900,000
2020 margin of victory for Biden: 1.18 percentage points, 82,166 votes
Polish, Finnish or Baltic population: Approximately 800,000
2020 margin of victory for Biden: 0.63 percentage points, 20,682 votes
Polish, Finnish or Baltic population: Approximately 500,000
Trump gives Biden so much to work with. The ads write themselves. I just hope Trumps own words are used to to bury him. Wont matter to the MAGAts but Independents will pay attention.
Publicly stating hes just fine with Putin attacking our allies should be the end of it for him but hes said and done so much that should have been the end for him, but here we are.
For any other politician his remarks would be career ending. Of course, trumps unfitness for the office is what makes him so attractive to his braindead idiot supporters.
Unless they're ignoring ethnics who arrived prior to some abstract date like 1950. Lots of Poles in PA.
MAGAt voters are motivated by four things: resentment, grievance, fear and hate. They support a political party that exists only to make the very richest richer at everyone else's expense. One only has to look at the rather dismal legislative record of the GOP in power recently (like, since Harding). Thus, they consistently vote against their interests, because most of the MAGAt base is in the Not Rich category.
The only thing stronger than resentment, grievance, fear and hate is: HOPE. Biden is running AGAINST trump. That's fear, and since the Great Depression (perhaps before but I was too young then), Democrats do fear less well than Republicans as a general rule. Until the Democratic Party starts talking about WHAT THEY WILL DO should they come back into power in both the Executive and Legislative branches, I think it likely that Biden et al. will continue to experience negative polling. If they don't come up with something(s) BIG and Palin-proof ("how's that hopey changey thing working out for 'ya" , I suspect that many eligible voters will just stay home come Election Day - perhaps enough to tip things the wrong way.
I guess that is what happens with some combination of "ya + end quote + end parenthesis. Been awhile (like 20 years+) since I was coding HTML. I'll do better next time. My apologies for any misunderstanding or inconvenience.
They may be hardcore. But the others will only tolerate so much. Some have already reached that point and if Trump is the nominee they will either not vote, vote for someone other than Trump or Biden, or for Biden.
For those that don't vote or for someone other than Trump or Biden it will be a one vote advantage. If they vote for Biden it will be a two vote switch advantage. I'm sure there will be some. Especially with so called Independents.
There will likely be enough that will result in a bigger majority for Biden. Yes, the popular vote is not method to get elected. About 8 million age 65 and older that voted in 2020 will be dead. About 5 million of them would had voted for Trump. The group that aged into that group are not as hard core conservatives. And the new voters in the younger age bracket are not as conservative either.
It will be significant enough in key states to keep Trump out of office.
Another thing. Those rioters that have been convicted or will be convicted will not be able to vote while in prison.
The message others that may have been supporting Maga will be hearing in their mind is I don't want to end up in prison and may cause them not to vote either.
Work this issue in these states until election day. There are sure to be more than a few Americans of Ukrainian descent also in those states.
Even if you think our NATO allies should pay more, Id rather us subsidize them than see them be victims of Russian war crimes.
This won't be a reason that votes will switch. Flibberdigibbet low-information "swing" voters won't even hear about it, and if they do, they won't remember in the barrage of bullshit that's to come.
What was he trying to accomplish other than letting his BFF Putin know he's still his number one?
