Run my finger on the screen over the block of type I want to “cut”. Go from top left to bottom right or bottom right to top left. It should highlight the type you want to “cut” with a blue block. This can be tricky and takes a little practice, sometimes holding your finger down for a second or two when starting the highlighting process helps get it going.

When you lift your finger off the screen, a black bar should appear at the top of your blue block with words in white such as “copy”, “cut”, “search”, etc. Tap on “copy”. The black bar will disappear after you do that. Then tap on the area where you want to attach the block of type. You will see the words “paste,” “select”, “select all”, etc. Tap on “paste” and your type block should appear.

You press on what you want to copy (or depending on where you’re copying from, you may need to double tap and it’ll get the ball rolling by selecting the word you touched, to get the ball rolling), and it will highlight. If it’s text, you’ll get little “slider bars” with a dot to adjust what you want to copy. When you have that area selected, press and hold, and a menu will pop up right over your text with the option to Copy. Touch that, then press and hold where you want to paste, and it’ll pop up a menu with a Paste option. Select that, and you should be good to go.

…in the text you want to select. On my iPad, a blue box will pop up around the word.

The box has little dots that you can press and slide with your finger to cover more text, say a paragraph.

The highlighted paragraph, which now should be in blue, will also open a small window with “Copy,” “Find Selection,” “Look Up,” “Translate” and a number of additional functions.

Touch “”Copy” and the blue highlighted text will be copied.

Next, go to the page you want to drop text into.

Press finger on screen where you want text to drop.

Screen will light up “Paste.” Then, drop it there.

Touch and press photo.

Box lights up (Open, Open In Background…Copy…)

Click “Copy.”

Find spot on page where you want to drop picture.

Press and hold spot with fingertip.

Window opens, click “Paste” and photo drops in.

General Discussion is for discussing politics, issues, and current events.

Computer help forum would be a better fit for this type of post.
