I'm informed by the fact that the elected officials and candidates I meet in the real world are as mainstream as I am.

what it is that you mean specifically? I know there are cycles here where the climate can feel unwelcoming to one or another group. It typically passes.

I feel like all Democrats should be (and generally are) welcome here. I'm sorry that I am apparently not aware of why you feel otherwise. But, maybe take a short break and return. Things move quickly here and that often includes any sense of unpleasantness.
