they pass legislation at a fast pace without trying to appease rethugs.
No more bipartisan crap just walk right over the rethugs and pass whatever is best for America.
Impeach (correction:expel) all the obstructionist insurrectionist like mtg and gym jordan.
No more Mr nice guy.

(55,039 posts)We shouldn't torch the GOP. We should pass OUR agenda, if we have the votes. You don't impeach Congresspeople. You expel them for cause. Insurrection is going to be a hard sell. And there is no mechanism as of yet for refusing to seat insurrectionists, other than forcing them to achieve 2/3 majority to remove their "disability". We would look harsh, cruel, almost reckless. The ballot box is the place to do the damage.
Think. Again.
(22,456 posts)...to START.
I don't think we should be concerned about "looking" harsh, cruel, and reckless when we are stopping them from actually BEING harsh, cruel, and reckless.

(4,158 posts)Any attempt to do things without proper justification and procedures will be considered unconstitutional, not just by the courts, but by American people. That is a good way to create backlash, and set up a whole team change again this time in Republicans favor.
A vicious cycle. Everything we do should be done the right way. But yes, pass legislation as fast as possible. Tackle the electoral college! Voting legislation. The George Floyd act. So many things that we have in the works and have been working on. A long time are first priorities. Then encouraging DOJ to get going on the members of Congress who actively helped in the insurrection.
They need to be exposed and removed.
Think. Again.
(22,456 posts)...suggest we do anything without proper justification and procedure, we are trying to PRESERVE our Democracy after all, not participate in it's destruction.
But this stance of always being afraid of pissing off republicans or appearing to be ...unkind... or something, has gotten us where we are today.
Call it "tough love" or whatever, but it's past time that we move our agenda along with fierce and unapologetic determination, no matter what tantrums they will throw about it.
After what the MAGAs have done to us LGBT people, immigrants, women, black folks, Asian people, Latin and Native Americans, I say we undo every piece of discriminatory legislation they enacted. No mercy. I'm sick of it. They have done so much to hurt people in this country. If we win in November, we take back every right they have taken. No more being nice to fascists. They have proven that they are unreachable.

should we retake control of the House and increase our majority in the Senate, our guys aren't the kumbaya types..and if cruel/harsh/reckless is what it takes to move Biden's agenda forward and his nominees confirmed I'm ok with that...

(8,900 posts)we should expel the folks in congress who ignored subpeona or participated in the insurrection in any way.
As far as looking cruel, I disagree.
The rethugs always obstruct good legislation and when our side gets it passed and into law they take credit for it and the rethug voters begin taking advantage of it while bad mouthing it.
We should steamroll the crooked bastards with good.

(29,048 posts)ACA with a public option was passed by the House, Joe Lieberman (Senate) refused to vote for it and it was taken out. Impossible without the filibuster-proof 60 votes, much as what Biden went through with his agenda where Manchin and Sinema veto a vote.

The Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday voted down two attempts by liberal Democrats to include a government-run insurance option as part of its legislation overhauling the nation's health care system.
Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) joined more conservative Democrats and all the Republicans on the committee to defeat measures by Sens. Jay Rockefeller of West Virginia and Chuck Schumer of New York.
"My job is to put together a bill that gets to 60 votes" in the full Senate, Baucus said before voting against Rockefeller's amendment, which was defeated 15-8. "No one shows me how to get to 60 votes with a public option." It takes 60 votes to overcome delaying actions that Republicans could attempt on the Senate floor.
The Senate Finance plan by Baucus is now the only health care bill pending in Congress that does not have a public insurance plan, which Obama and other backers say would boost competition and control costs.

If we want to take anything back from the ruling class again we need to get those majorities again.

(2,638 posts)raise or remove the cap on social security taxed income:
WHAT CHANGES COULD BE MADE TO THE TAX CAP?
There have been a number of proposals to increase, eliminate, or otherwise adjust the payroll tax cap as a way to shore up Social Securitys finances.
An example of one such proposal, the Social Security 2100 Act, would apply the Social Security payroll tax to earnings over $400,000 in addition to earnings below the current maximum taxable amount. The gap between the two would narrow over time as the maximum taxable amount increases and the $400,000 threshold remains unchanged. That gap has earned the nickname donut hole and would serve to gradually increase the programs revenues over time while not subjecting earners who fall in the gap to immediate tax increases. While estimates vary based on assumed wage trends and the specific details of each proposal, economists project that it would take approximately 20 to 30 years for the donut hole to disappear. Such an approach is intended to make the tax more progressive by increasing the tax burden on higher-income Americans.

(27,615 posts)There are 13 appellate courts. Should be the same number of SCJ's.

Rotate justices so only 9 hear each case. The court is over worked and politically unbalanced. It needs to be fixed in Biden's 1st year of 2nd term, he needs to appoint 4 new justices.
