House lawmakers to offer their own Ukraine and border bill

House lawmakers to offer their own Ukraine and border bill

House Republicans are planning to unveil a Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan and border bill as an alternative to the border-free package that passed the Senate on Tuesday, a lawmaker leading the effort said Wednesday.

Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.) told reporters the proposed pathway could be revealed as early as Thursday — and that he will brief Speaker Mike Johnson on its contents prior to its release. He said he is working with “a handful” of colleagues from both parties in the Senate and House, but declined to name names or give details of the proposal.

“Stay tuned in the next 24 hours, I think you'll see something that I think will be bipartisan,” he said, adding he wasn’t sure if it would be a formal proposal from the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus. He co-chairs the group with Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.).

Fitzpatrick said Johnson claimed during Wednesday morning’s House GOP conference meeting that President Joe Biden would not meet with him on border security measures, reiterating comments made by Majority Leader Steve Scalise during a Tuesday interview with CNN.

“We were just told that the president will not sit down with him,” said the Pennsylvania centrist, who also co-chairs the Congressional Ukraine Caucus. “So it's kind of hard to negotiate when the president won’t sit down with him.”

1. "It's kind of hard to negotiate" when the Republicans get what they want and still shoot it down.

"It's kind of hard to negotiate" when the Republicans act as puppets being controlled by insurrectionist sex criminal Donald Trump.

"It's kind of hard to negotiate" when every Republican wingnut faction wants their own private negotiations NOW after months of their official representatives working on and presenting a finished bill.

3. The GOP House had a Senate compromise bill they could have amended and sent back to Senate. Johnson bowed to Trump

Bowed to Trump and killed that bipartisan bill.
Next Johnson had a vote to impeach Biden's cabinet member responsible for border security (failed first time, then rushed through and succeeded before Santos seat was filled).

Why TF would Biden meet with Johnson? Might as well meet with Trump directly, as Trump owns Johnson and tells him what to do that is best for Trump's Presidential campaign without regards as to what is best for the country.
