Happy Thanksgiving to all the workers today.

The people who are keeping the lights on, water running, gas flowing.

May you all be fairly compensated for your labor.

Football players and TV personell too.

There is a difference of "having to work" and being compensated for working when everyone else is enjoying the holidays.

under that system if you were scheduled Thursday, you showed up, or paid a no show fee..the good news of course is that there always was lot of biz before and after holidays.. but the holidays themselves were slow.. so many drivers, did in fact pay the no show, in effect purchasing the holiday.. the net effect of that was that holidays could in fact be lucrative..

that system worked well till the last year i drove.. the company hired too many drivers forcing many of us to come in on thanksgiving.. in fact that year i worked at a loss, as well as sacrificing my holiday... one of the several reasons, that year was the last year i drove..

We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.

Alas, disability never takes a holiday. I'm making him special meals (and Michelle Obama's whipped sweet potatoes) to make it feel like a holiday for him, and then bouncing out just in time this evening to have dessert with in-laws.

But those damn, brave BART drivers *sniff*
