🚨🚨BREAKING NEWS from me and @MicaSoellnerDC --
MARK GREEN, the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, will retire at the end of this Congress.
Green is in his first term atop the committee.
He is the FOURTH GOP committee chair to forgo reelection in 2024.

(15,393 posts)MAGAts are going to double down, and the Dems have strong policies to run on despite the ratfuckery of the media, religious hypocrites, and "smart money people" trying to drag this country into fascism.
If the GOP keeps the House, the MAGA will be unbearable. If the Dems take back the House, the MAGA will be unbearable.
Easier to quit while there's still a modicum of Country Club reputation to hang on to.
It's one thing to claim to be a prince among businessmen, it's another to be just another clown being pushed into the Mini-cooper from Hell before it's pushed into the middle of the ring under the spotlights.

A member of the Republican Party, Green has chaired the Committee on Homeland Security since 2023. Before his election to Congress, he served in the Tennessee Senate from 2013 to 2018, representing the 22nd district.

(1,438 posts)As for the House composition, it's not likely to change anything. A GOP member will very likely replace a GOP member. It does take away institutional knowledge from the GOP, and we'll have to see whether the candidate that emerges is a full-on MAGAt or not. Anyone know who may be a candidate?
