Last night, Democrats significantly over performed in a special election state house race in Oklahoma. The district, Oklahoma's 39th, previously voted for Donald Trump by 26 points and Republicans have a 30 point voter registration advantage over Democrats in the area. Despite the significant advantage, Democrats came within just six points of flipping the seat last night, with Democrat Regan Raff earning approximately 45% of the vote and Republican Erick Harris earning about 50.5% of the vote. Votes are still being tallied, but the final margin will not change much.
This trend continued throughout the night as Democrats won special elections in both New York and Pennsylvania, setting the party up for success heading into the November elections.

(42,240 posts)2. Maybe this isn't "overperformance" by Democrats
... when it could just as easily be "underperformance" by the media pollsters.
In any case, all the credit goes to the Democratic voters of OK-39. Great job, my dudes!
Think. Again.

...from now on, I'll be reading each of those headlines as "Polls Underperform In Historic Election!"
