When fax machines became a thing you could sign up for a daily fax of talking points to read and have ready for “watercooler conversations”.

Norquist had a weekly meeting Monday or Tuesday morning to brainstorm what stories/angles they wanted to push and how. The goal was to influence coverage in general and specifically by Thursday when the Sunday morning talk topics/line ups were set.

Now, everyone immediately has exactly the same opinions on RW Twitter and talk radio.
