A medical historian dove into the case about a decade ago. Harrison did not get sick right away, it took about three weeks after his inaugural. Though his doctor put flu on his his death certificate, that's because it was a catch all cause at the time. Based on the symptoms, it was likely that he actually died from the White House water supply (in that era, untreated human waste was routinely dumped near a public water supply six blocks away).

Nonetheless, the legend continues...largely because of that lengthy address.
