Trump finally mentions Navalny...but not really.

He talks about Navalny's "sudden death," as if the guy just magically keeled over for no reason and no one's fault...and then launches straight into his boilerplate airing of grievances that have absolutely nothing to do with Navalny.

Honestly, I thought he'd try to compare himself to Navalny by claiming he too is a victim of "political persecution" (others have done so), but I think that's too close to pinning some blame on Putin. And he wouldn't dare do that.

I'm sure "CIA murdered Navalny" has been whispered in Trump's ear repeatedly over the last few days. In the quote in the OP he segues directly from mentioning Navalny to talking about "what is happening in our country" and then goes on about radical leftists and the deep state. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't start directly suggesting that the U.S. is responsible for Navalny's death soon.
