Yulia Navalnaya's Account Is Briefly Suspended by X
Source: The New York Times (gift link/no paywall)

Reporting from Moscow
Feb. 20, 2024
The social media platform X temporarily suspended on Tuesday an account created by Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of Aleksei A. Navalny, and then restored it, saying it had been mistakenly flagged by its automated security protocols. Ms. Navalnaya opened the account on Monday to announce that she would continue her husbands work advocating for a free, peaceful and democratic Russia in the wake of her husbands death in a remote Arctic prison. More than 90,000 users followed the account in its first 24 hours.
But on Tuesday, the account and its activity suddenly disappeared, replaced by the words Account suspended and a note that X the social media company formerly known as Twitter suspends accounts which violate the X Rules.
Our platform??s defense mechanism against manipulation and spam mistakenly flagged @yulia_navalnaya as violating our rules, Xs safety team wrote on the platform later on Tuesday. We unsuspended the account as soon as we became aware of the error, and will be updating the defense.
Earlier in the day, Ms. Navalnaya wrote on the social network Telegram that Twitter has imposed restrictions on my account, which I opened yesterday. According to the Shadowban Test service, my tweets are not shown in searches, and if you enter my name in the search bar, my page is not recommended among recommendations, she wrote.
After the account was reinstated, tens of thousands of new followers were being added.

just like Hitler had one of the anti-semite Henry Ford.

This is beyond abysmal. I guess that makes clear why Elon was in FL (last weekend--presumedly Mar-a-Lago). I'd imagine (surmise) he is going to be the intermediary for Putin to pay Trump's legal judgments.

(51,322 posts)7. I translated it with Google
it says
I don't care how the killer's press secretary comments on my words. Give Alexei's body and give him a decent burial, don't prevent people from saying goodbye to him.
And I ask all journalists who can still ask questions: don't ask about me, ask about Alexei.

I don't care how the killer's press secretary comments on my words. Give back Alexeis body and let him be buried with dignity, dont stop people from saying goodbye to him.
And I really ask all journalists who may still ask questions: dont ask about me, ask about Alexey.

It says the translation is provided by Google, but this isn't the first time I've noticed that the Google translation provided on a particular site can be slightly different from what you get with a copy-and-paste to the Google Translate page.

(8,887 posts)4. It's back
Could have been Elmo.
Could have been swarmed and mass reported by Russian bots (the triggers an automatic suspension).
Either reason is bad

(35,075 posts)5. We really need to coalesce around a new Twitter replacement
Come on guys, we should have done this months ago. Eloon is a fascist-supporting, white supremacist.

Why people just can't agree to shut the garbage off and stop using it boggles my mind. Doesn't anyone remember life before xitter?
