Trump Acknowledges 6 Names On His Vice Presidential Shortlist: 'All Solid'

Donald Trump on Tuesday acknowledged at least six names that he said are on his vice presidential shortlist.

During a Fox News town hall event in Greenville, South Carolina, host Laura Ingraham asked the former president about six potential running mates, including three of his erstwhile GOP primary rivals: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott.

She also cited Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.), South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) and former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate who left the party in 2022 after aligning herself increasingly with the political right.

“Are they all on your shortlist?” Ingraham asked. “They are,” Trump said.

Guess that explains Gabbard's parroting Trump's incorrect criticism of NATO.

He is going to say that anyone sucking up to him is on the "list".

It's what he does. It means nothing. It gets him media time and keeps those jimokes saying cringy things.

His ego won't let him consider that a vp could help him win. He wouldn't even have one if he could get away without one.

The only rule he has is the person has to have fewer letters in their last name. He isn't going to give their name any advantage on signs over his. If he could find someone named Ng or kim, he would chose them.

my long-shot bet is still that he lands on RFKjr..the guys as nuts as trump, gets him the antivaxxers back, and then he claim a 'unity ticket' that will draw in an extra 2% of people who know 'hes a Kennedy, that's a thing right?', and nothing else.

Too likely to be a distraction. Whoever he picks needs to be invisible save for saying how great he is.

My prediction is only for his criteria:

- loyal to a legal fault, quiet except to lie for the boss
- white. I think poc disgust him.
- probably male.
- short last name
- not well known. No liberal baggage.

I believe that your speculation is accurate.

The list forwarded by Ingraham was of her making. She or someone is trying to influence him. Keep in mind it was Manifort who chose Pence at the prodding of unknown parties.

Ultimately, choosing a potential successor is an exercise in humility that I think Trump is unable to perform. It goes against his narcissistic self in a core way.

than 30 electoral votes - DeSantis would fall short of 270 electoral votes and it would throw the Vice Presidential election to the US Senate (maybe not a problem if the GOP controlled the Senate in January 2025 but a big problem if they don't).

He knows all the best people, and only hires the best.

Then they turn into the worst losers and morons, according to him. Then he hires more of the best to fill those positions. Then they become the worst, and he hires more of the best.

…to Trump Tower, files in hand, as he was “considered” for Secretary of the State. Trump was dangling a baited hook. Dangle, dangle.

Romney’s not a Trumper — I think he genuinely thought he could help the country, and mitigate Trump’s assholery. But by his second trip to the Tower, I could tell from the look on his face that this was not going to end well.

Trump is dangling a hook in front of all of these people — for Trump it’s a game. Gods is he disgusting.

I think Trump will go with a woman (in his mind, someone who he can intimidate into breaking the law for him...a not-Pence)

Also, of the two women on his list, Noem looks more Melania-like than Gabbard.
