Walmart Strikes Are Going To Have A 'Catch A Fire' Impact

________________

Ooh-ooh-oo-ooh. Oo-oo-ooh! Oo-oo-ooh.
Slave driver, the table is turn; (catch a fire)
Catch a fire, so you can get burn, now. (catch a fire)
Slave driver, the table is turn; (catch a fire)
Catch a fire: gonna get burn. (catch a fire) Wo, now!

What those brave striking Walmart workers achieve (or suffer) will send a clear message to other employers around the nation.

Everyone complains, rightly, about the catastrophic consequences of government austerity and 'cliffs', but workers around the nation have been squeezed by a profit-taking business community which fails to adequately invest in their workers; the backbone of their industries and enterprises.

Workers at Walmart, and around the nation are trying to survive working full-time without a living wage, or struggling to find enough hours to survive on. We've driven the majority of Americans to that 'cliff' for years now, while major corporations -- advantaged by tax-reductions that are weighted toward the wealthy -- are turning record profits from the increased 'productivity' of a shrunken workforce into record bonuses and profit-taking at the top. This culture of greed must be challenged from the ground-up with protest actions like the brave Walmart strikes taking place today and in the future.

It's very hard to make a decent living out here for the folks who are lucky to even have a job. We need these protests to succeed and catch a fire around the nation. WE are the engine of our nation's prosperity. SOLIDARITY.

Catch A Fire - Bob Marley

Ooh-ooh-oo-ooh. Oo-oo-ooh! Oo-oo-ooh.
Slave driver, the table is turn; (catch a fire)
Catch a fire, so you can get burn, now. (catch a fire)
Slave driver, the table is turn; (catch a fire)
Catch a fire: gonna get burn. (catch a fire) Wo, now!

Ev'rytime I hear the crack of a whip,
My blood runs cold.
I remember on the slave ship,
How they brutalize the very souls.
Today they say that we are free,
Only to be chained in poverty.
Good God, I think it's illiteracy;
It's only a machine that makes money.
Slave driver, the table is turn, y'all. Ooh-ooh-oo-ooh.

Slave driver, uh! The table is turn, baby, now; (catch a fire)
Catch a fire, so you can get burn, baby, now. (catch a fire)
Slave driver, the table is turn, y'all; (catch a fire)
Catch a fire: so you can get burn, now. (catch a fire)

Ev'rytime I hear the crack of a whip,
My blood runs cold.
I remember on the slave ship,
How they brutalize the very soul.

O God, have mercy on our souls!
Oh, slave driver, the table is turn, y'all; (catch a fire)
Catch a fire, so you can get burn. (catch a fire)
Slave driver, the table is turn, y'all; (catch a fire)

...the constant stress that workers are forced to endure.
Stress shortens life and leads to less healthy individuals causing MORE stress on society.

Day after my first day back I was jumped onto by my department manager for not doing a good enough job.

Never went back.

If they say "yes", respond "too bad"
If they say "no", respond "good"

We have to support the most abused workforce in the country.
