I haven't been on DU for a long time. The last time I was here everybody was defending Merrick Garland. Is that still the case?

(97 posts)I'm a big-time fan of Joe Biden, however he has allowed the rule of law in this country to bring our country to the brink of collapse. Garland and Wray not only need to be fired; they need a criminal investigation. It is an embarrassment that insurrectionists are running the House.

...for prosecuting over 1000 white supremacist, Trump-supporting MAGA Capitol rioters, including several riot leaders convicted on charges of Sedition and interfering with the vote.
'Interferring with the vote' not coincidently what the SC who Merrick Garland hired on his own volition has charged Trump with in one of the TWO historic indictments against the former president.
Garland hired a clear anti-Biden republican who, nonetheless, declined to bring charges in a report which clearly outlined the difference between Trump's crimes and Pres. Biden's compliance with investigators.
Now there's a clear exoneration in that kerfluffle, without ANY chance of accusations of interference in this election where the president's AG is charging his rival in this contest with felonies. That's why the President, the WH, and his campaign have taken the win and moved on.
Garland also approved an SC designation for the man investigating Hunter Biden right at the moment House republicans were clamouring for Weiss to appear before them (and he was resisting) and subject himself to their grilling and exploitation of his investigation.
The SC designation now prevents Congress or anyone else from interfering in that investigation until its conclusion and final report.
After he charged Hunter Biden with a piffle of dubious tax and gun crimes, Weiss not only declined to bring forward anything Burisma, he charged the person making those accusations to the FBI with false statements, unraveling the entire Biden impeachment effort.
Anyone who thinks that diverting from those Biden wins to grouse about Garland is a good idea is doing advocacy on this Democratic board wrong.
Get back to us when the day comes that President Biden says ONE word against his AG. Until then it's your own agenda, not anything associated with what Joe Biden is doing, saying, or intends.
