David Axelrod: If I were the Biden campaign, I would pay to have every American see the CPAC convention because the thing that has been thwarting Republicans in the midterms and since, has been this impression of the Republican Party as an extreme party. Yesterday, you had someone stand up at the CPAC convention as a speaker and basically talk about, We almost toppled democracy on January 6. Were going to do it now with this.
And he held up a cross, basically advocating for theocracy. This is not the image that the Republican Party wants.

(15,842 posts)They'll find special "dispensations" for their non-approved activities (pedophilia, under-age sex, extra-marital liaisons and abortions, etc.)
And, of course, the New Theocracy is all on-board for things like bribery, theft, lying, murder of opponents, etc. As long as they pledge fealty (and send their kick-back money in promptly.)

(793 posts)... der entire Republican Party has metastasized into a terrorist organization. I'm 3 1/2 years shy of 80, and, as I'm fond of saying, I've seen some shit! The lower life forms that have overrun the GOP will be the end of it, just not soon enough. And corporate media are on their side, not ours.
Sadly, I don't think it's gonna change without bloodshed. When, not if, they come after me and mine, there'll be no turning the other cheek; there will be return fire. You cannot reason with these people; I've tried. They're itchin' to kill us. Christ, they say it openly, in public, with no concern for consequences, so we'd damn well better be ready.

(15,842 posts)I don't think the "corporates" and the media have thought this whole thing through very well.
When the hell-fire comes for us it will also come for them.

(3,181 posts)but I'm with you! I also don't think we're going to do this without bloodshed. But I don't think we're ever going to see a true "United States" of America happen again. The Republicans have been pushing us apart for way too many decades, and with Trump and Putin's help, they finally managed to drive a complete wedge between us. I don't think it's gonna get better until they find their own country, even if we have to "give over" a few contiguous states to make it so for them. Of course, we're gonna have to build one hell of a high wall to keep them from coming back over to the Blue Side. Magats, once they experience the "Utopia" they think they want are going to be so surprised to find out they don't like it, and it ain't what they thought it was gonna be. Plus, the Red states can't make it on their own without Fed help. That means whatever help they're used to getting... like Medicare, Social Security, etc., are going to be dust in the wind for them. They'll never get those kinds of benefits out of a Red State gone feral. But that's just my opinion. I would like to see things shake out to some sense of new normal before I die, tho. It'd be nice to be able to take a walk with my dog around the neighborhood, or go to a concert, without fear some rightwinger is gonna shoot up everything and everybody. So much for MY freedom these days, eh? Of course, they're truly working hard to take it all away, anyway... since I'm female. Me, my daughter, and my niece are next to worthless as far as they're concerned.

(793 posts)... of strong women asserting agency over their own lives, so they're the ones they attack first. Unfortunately, they forget that they're outnumbered, and that there are millions of men who admire the women in their lives and stand by them. I count myself among that group.
The witless yahoos are getting themselves all revved up, but the loudest ones have never been in a fire fight, and they'll fold up like a cheap lawn chair when the proverbial substance hits the fan.

(3,181 posts)back in the old days of boot camp... and won the NRA sharpshooter award one year when I was 16. Today... I figure as big as they are, I could probably hit middle mass, at least! I doubt they move very fast off the couch.
I am concerned about Nov 6... the day after the election. If T doesn't win, he's going to go stark raving crazy, as will all his magas. I wouldn't put it past them to start shooting stuff up and/or planting bombs.
If T wins, I don't think we're going to sit down and be quiet this time. We were good democratic voters with Bush v Gore... and while we yelled a lot about Hillary, and knew she'd won the popular vote, we didn't go off the deep end like T's magas are wont to do. If Biden doesn't win, I figure we'll all be thinking the same thing... the election WAS stolen (especially with the way the R's have been acting and talking lately), and I don't see us sitting back down like good little voters again. Not with so much at stake. I honestly don't see how we get through Nov 6.

(793 posts)... the relentless onslaught of court cases and judgements against him may well take its toll on the Gangrenous Boil on the Ass of Humanity. And I'm beginning to see a serious thinning of the ranks of his loyal followers. There will still be a dangerous number of brain-dead turds to deal with, but the first time they go up against trained opposition, they'll turn tail. It's the ones still left after that who will be formidable. I do so wish that it doesn't have to be this way, but if that's the play they want, then so be it. I'm old, but I can still snap-shoot the seeds out of a grape off-hand. Yeah, a little bit of hyperbole for effect there, but I I have fired thousands of rounds through all kinds of weapons, so I'm pretty good at it.
I just hope it doesn't come to that.

(3,181 posts)event saying exactly what CPAC is saying, they'd find themselves on all kinds of terrorist lists so fast it'd make your head spin! Grrrr

(15,842 posts)As you say, the new weaponry will probably take care of everybody that can't move to some sane location. I hear that a bunch of the rich people are building swank survival castles in places like New Zealand and Hawai'i. I have to believe that their final end may be extended a bit, but will probably be just as unpleasant.
(Un)intended consequences?
