(22,883 posts)As I said in another post a while back, MTG is too mouthy and opinionated for TSF. He likes people who do his bidding and keep their mouths shut!
Elise Stefanik seems more his type to me, and from what I've read, she may be on his short list.

These could be the most important articles people in the U.S. could possibly read before the November elections.
The MSM wants to make sure the election is close and sweeps worthy. Ratings baby, ratings. The closer and more controversial the election is the more 🤑🤑💰💰 money these corporate monsters make.
What a sad commentary on our country and capitalism.

(20,822 posts)My Mom, back in the "big hair" days of the 60s and 70s, used that stuff.
The smell was toxic enough 😷 but the stickiness of it was alarming. Sometimes she'd walk around while spraying her hair and everything in her path was super-sticky afterward.

My mom used it too but I didn't live with her much.

(13,561 posts)Now they report almost nothing of Trumps rallies because they know the reporting would show Trump in a poor light and that he has serious mental problems that are most probably early Alzheimers. But every time Biden almost stutters, it gets reported along with snarky comments about his age.

(27,354 posts)I thought "phonemic" sounded like either phonics, or a description of how you see the dictionary break up a multi sylable word.
And "paraphasia" sounded like either paraphrase, or reminded me of aphasia.

(42,444 posts)Except that dyslexia refers to a reading disability, e.g. reading words backwards from right-to-left rather than the correct left-to-right method. But this phonemic paraphasia concept has more to do with a failure to interpret spoken words correctly.
I've actually wondered if Chump is hard of hearing, as many older folks are. While he was in the White House he often shunned reporters' questions, or he'd pretend to listen and then give an answer that was completely out of left field. It just seemed like he wasn't paying attention, or he was embarrassed to admit he couldn't hear the reporters' questions.
This idea of phonemic paraphasia makes a lot of sense. If it's true, then what happens is Chump thinks he hears something, but it's not what the person actually said. Then his answers sound like gibberish.
It would be interesting to hear Bob Woodward's take on this, since he spent so many days and hours interviewing Chump for his books. I wonder if Woodward has ever mentioned whether Chump has a problem with hearing or understanding people in face-to-face conversations.

(21,043 posts)I was discussing with a friend her cousin's recent stroke and the effect it's had on his speech. This seems to describe it perfectly.
...snip
This lesion can be caused by a variety of different methods: malfunctioning blood vessels (caused, for example, by a stroke) in the brain are the cause of 80% of aphasias in adults, as compared to head injuries, dementia and degenerative diseases, poisoning, metabolic disorders, infectious diseases, and demyelinating diseases.
