Plenty of people can be unhappy with uncontrolled entry of migrants and a growing homeless situation in large population centers.

As per usual they only tell HALF the story on this: "Immigration is on voters minds! It's a problem!"

But they don't bother telling viewers and readers WHY it's on everybody's mind and WHY it isn't dealt with - REPUBLICAN propaganda and obstruction of that border security bill.

Same on the economy: "INFLATION IS TERRIBLE!" -- but they LEAVE OUT the part about corporate profits being massively and historically high, price gouging and greedflation. It's rarely mentioned.

Same on Biden's age: "BIDEN'S AGE IS A PROBLEM!" But they leave out why it's considered a problem (Republican propaganda, which the media parrots 24x7x365) and they leave out how Trump slurs his words, doesn't know where he is, can't recognize his ex-wife, and is a babbling incoherent orange ape.

The US media tells only HALF of the story on any issue - the half their corporate overlords will allow them to tell. Hosts who tell too much truth are shitcanned: Medhi Hassan, Keith Olbermann, and others.

They want to scream "BORDER! BORDER! BORDER!" until November. Every time one gets in front of a microphone and EVERY ad I've seen is about that: "JOE BIDEN ALLOWS OPEN BORDERS!"

It's typically Republican and really, it's all they've got.

1. Create a problem
2. Blame Democrats
3. Democrats craft legislation to solve the problem
4. GOP/MAGA obstructs the legislation
5. GOP/MAGA blames Democrats for GOP obstruction and the problem not being solved

Lather, rinse, repeat ad infinitum.

We care about humans whether or not they are Americans. Securing the border and caring about all people can be difficult to pull off but we have to figure out how to do it and convince the majority of voters this is the right thing to do.

...that there's a vast difference in party affiliation?

From the article:

Currently, 57% of Republicans, up from 37% in January, say immigration is the top problem. Independents show a modest uptick, from 16% in January to 22% now, while there has been no meaningful change among Democrats (9% in January and 10% in February).

...with only about 10% of them uncertain, so the numbers are pretty much the same... It's far more of the right-leaning voters that feel immigration is an important issue.

Let's face it, we're not gong to win those people hardcore righties over, so I don't think we should focus the majority of the campaign on immigration. It's a non-issue to those who we should focus on -the possible NON-voters.

Think. Again.

I'm betting that women and many men feel that snatching abortion rights away from women, and now this anti-mom embryo decision compounding that in Alabama on top of it, is still the most important, top-of-mind issue.

Gloss over it if you want repugs, but it'll still bite you in the ass come Nov.

9. Comparing Crime Rates Between Undocumented Immigrants, Legal Immigrants, and Native-born US Citizens in Texas

https://www.ojp.gov/library/publications/comparing-crime-rates-between-undocumented-immigrants-legal-immigrants-and

Abstract

The study found that undocumented immigrants had substantially lower crime rates than native-born citizens and legal immigrants across a range of felony offenses. Relative to undocumented immigrants, U.S.-born citizens are over 2 times more likely to be arrested for violent crimes, 2.5 times more likely to be arrested for drug crimes, and over 4 times more likely to be arrested for property crimes.

In addition, the proportion of arrests involving undocumented immigrants in Texas was relatively stable or decreasing over this period. The differences between U.S.-born citizens and undocumented immigrants are robust to using alternative estimates of the broader undocumented population, alternate classifications of those counted as “undocumented” at arrest and substituting misdemeanors or convictions as measures of crime. They are hearing about the Georgia college student who was killed and mutilated by someone from Venezuela who crossed the border illegally. They are also hearing that if it weren't for New Yorks sanctuary policies he would have been deported before he killed.

That a crime committed by someone who entered the country illegally is the same as a crime by a citizen of the U.S.? That’s a real tough needle to thread. The Georgia case is an example.

MAGAts can fuck right off. I have none in my family and close to none in my friends list, at least that I am aware of.

I ruthlessly cull any Trump supporters from my life. I have that luxury as I have lived in Sweden since 2018. I refuse to deal with white nationalist christofash septic bellends.

...but your post seem to imply that 'a needle has to be threaded' in order to explain to someone that immigrants post no more threat than citizens, who would you have to explain that to if not a rightwinger?

Democrats have very little concern about immigration, as mentioned in the OP article.
