She pointed out that Dearborn (with a high Arab American pop) did not vote for Biden in 2020. They voted for Sanders. So they are really not Biden voters anyway.

All Mixed Up
(597 posts)How many who are voting uncommitted now have zero plans to vote for Biden in November compared to those who voted Bernie in 2020? That might be the difference in Biden winning Michigan and Trump winning.
FWIW: Biden won Dearborn with 74% of the vote vs Trump in 2020.

(12,744 posts)Havent heard any say they were voting for TFG.
In AZ I have a friend who is researching all the options because she has to vote for Biden in November and wanted to have some more choice now.
Whatever. Everyone who isnt Biden on the ballot is a crank - thats all I need to know

(5,410 posts)that they WON'T vote for President Biden in November....
NONE of them have stated that they will vote for Trump,
as far has been reported.... (I'm a Michigan man, so paying particular attention to this)
I think that women and young women in Michigan will make up the difference,
but I think some of these uncommitted will ultimately support President Biden also,
considering the alternative....

(22,882 posts)What worries me is that I think at least some of them want Biden to completely pull US support for Israel. I don't agree with Bibi about a lot of things, but I don't think that's realistic, not after decades of the country being such a staunch ally of Israel.
A lot can change between now and November, but it may not change enough to satisfy some people.

(61,094 posts)This does not make CM's point wrong, but there would be a difference between voting for Sanders, then Biden vs uncommitted, then Biden.
This is not even something where polling now will say anything about November. Clearly Biden's team needs to explain how limited control Biden had and has over Netanyahu. Even if Biden's team's work leads to a ceasefire, the problem is the incredible loss of life that already happened.
One concern I have is that it is in Netanyahu's interest to continue being at war ... and he likely would see it as a plus that his actions, that the US has little control over, hurts Biden and helps Trump.

(9,719 posts)I expect the Democratic uncommitted vote will be compared to the much lower uncommitted vote in previous primaries and represented as a November non-vote or vote for third party or Trump. I believe the bulk of the uncommitted votes are a statement of dissatisfaction with Gaza policy. I do not think it translates to significantly reduced support for Biden in November when the alternative is Trump.

(31,454 posts)Some in the Arab American community are trying awfully hard to make this a difficult reelection for Pres Biden. I'm gonna go out on a limb and speculate that many don't really care as much about Gaza as they would have us believe. A good bit of this is about score settling. Why the hell would anyone think Joe Biden should be held to ransom for the actions of another sovereign nation, especially when that nation was attacked by one of the many terrorist groups on its doorstep?
I'm no fan of Netanyahu or his Likud Party, and many folks may not like the response to the actions of Oct 7th, but the folks in Dearborn, MI aren't living with the threat of being awakened in the middle of the night at gunpoint, kidnapped & raped just for being born Jewish. Just sayin'...
