NewsweekA University of Texas at Tyler (UTT) survey found that incumbent Cruz and Texas Representative Colin Allred, the current frontrunner to be Democratic challenger in November's Senate election, are both tied on 41 percent when potential voters are asked who they may support in the race, with 12 percent saying they are still unsure.
In 2018, Cruz won re-election to the Texas Senate seat following a fiercely competitive race with former Texas congressman Beto O'Rourke by just over 2.6 points. Ahead of November's elections, Cruz warned Republican voters in Texas that Democrats will target his Senate seat as the party hopes to keep control of the upper chamber.
The UTT survey also found that Cruz is not as well-liked in Texas as his presumptuous Democratic challenger.

The critical item is not the tie, it's that Cruz, with incumbency and name recognition is at only 41%.

(10,180 posts)IMHO, a challenger (D) in Texas needs to lean more conservative for a chance to win....

The only time Raphael Ted Cruz (R-Batshit Crazy) isnt the biggest asshole in the room is when hes not in the room.
He doesnt even have to do anything to make people hate him. Just looking at him and you get the instant urge to beat the shit out of him. As the Germans say, he has a Backpfeifengesicht; a face thats badly in need of a fist.

(13,477 posts)Houston, Harris County, is heavily Democratic, and Republicans have ousted the Democratic election leaders and will run the election to benefit themselves and to prevent as many Harris Country residents from voting as possible by closing precincts in mostly black areas, delaying new voter registrations until after the election, and putting more rules around mail ballots. The state already passed a law saying that only one dropoff location was allowed per county, so a county with 5 million people get one dropoff box, just as a county with 1,000 people gets one dropoff box.
It boggles the brain how corrupt and crooked Republicans are.

(9,065 posts)Cruz, and Scott in Florida are vulnerable, and could make up for the seat we are most likely going to lose in West Virginia.
They should consider themselves lucky that governor abbot isn't up for election this year. He could easily lose.

(22,582 posts)Can't vote for him since I'm not a Texan, but I did donate.
Just because he lost, though, doesn't mean Allred is doomed. He is quite popular in TX, and it sounds like the Cruz hatred is pretty strong these days. Fingers crossed!🤞

Time is running out. We have to get our undocumented aliens registered so they can vote.
The gop won't know what is going on since they won't understand what is being said.
Maybe we should run ads in a made up language?

Abbott and Paxton both got re-elected
rubbersole
(11,222 posts)...polling for Lindsey, Collins, McConnell and 1 other repub was way off the final vote totals. While other non-senate races in the same states was much closer to the polls pre-election. I just remember it got little or no press at the time.
