So easy, so convenient. Everyone is mailed a ballot which can be returned postage free through the US mail, or dropped off or returned in person to the polling place. If you sign up, you can track your ballot and see when it was mailed and when it was received. Mine was received!

But I believe OR and WA also have vote by mail for all registered voters. It's a no-brainer.

Ballots are mailed out well ahead of Election Day, and thus voters have an election period, not just a single day, to vote. Mostly-mail elections can be thought of as absentee voting for everyone. This system is also referred to as vote by mail.
Eight statesCalifornia, Colorado, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Vermont and Washington and the District of Columbiaallow all elections to be conducted entirely by mail.
Two statesNebraska and North Dakotapermit counties to opt into conducting elections by mail.
Nine statesAlaska, Arizona, Florida, Kansas, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico and Wyomingallow specific small elections to be conducted by mail.
Four statesIdaho, Minnesota, New Jersey and New Mexicopermit mostly-mail elections for certain small jurisdictions.
