President Biden today: "Donald Trump made it clear he doesnt want Nikki Haleys supporters. I want to be clear: There is a place for them in my campaign. I know there is a lot we wont agree on. But on the fundamental issues of preserving American democracy, on standing up for the rule of law, on treating each other with decency and dignity and respect, on preserving NATO and standing up to Americas adversaries, I hope and believe we can find common ground."

(94,290 posts)6. it's not about the donations, which are in the dumps for republicans
...in debt and trailing behind Dems and the Biden camp.
It's about the president taking smart advantage of this unique situation where the republican's leading candidate is so offensive he's OPENLY alienating over 30% of their OWN voters.
Trump last week:
And they say always trying to demean well MAGA really represents 48% of the Republican Party no, now it represents 96% and maybe 100%. We're getting rid of the Romneys of the world. We wanna get Romney and those out.

There's no way Trump would turn down any money from anyone.

(94,290 posts)7. that's beside the point
...completely.
No one, especially the Biden campaign, believes anything Trump says.
The president is needling him here, and taking advantage of this new move by Trump to alienate 'Romneys' and others who aren't MAGA cultists.
