The United States has quietly approved and delivered more than 100 separate foreign military sales to Israel since the Gaza war began Oct. 7, amounting to thousands of precision-guided munitions, small diameter bombs, bunker busters, small arms and other lethal aid, U.S. officials told members of Congress in a recent classified briefing.
The triple digit figure, which has not been previously reported, is the latest indication of Washingtons extensive involvement in the polarizing five-month conflict even as top U.S. officials and lawmakers increasingly express deep reservations about Israels military tactics in a campaign that has killed more than 30,000 Palestinians, according to Gazas health authorities.
Taken together, the weapons packages amount to a massive transfer of firepower at a time when senior U.S. officials have complained that Israeli officials have fallen short on their appeals to limit civilian casualties, allow more aid into Gaza, and refrain from rhetoric calling for the permanent displacement of Palestinians.
Thats an extraordinary number of sales over the course of a pretty short amount of time, which really strongly suggests that the Israeli campaign would not be sustainable without this level of U.S. support, said Jeremy Konyndyk, a former senior Biden administration official and current president of Refugees International.

(48,962 posts)The answer will be staring every one right in the face. People who have skin in the game will not always set their values and morals aside. Trump hates them and will let Netanyahoo do whatever he wants to their families and loved ones but when they see the US supporting the genocide of their people they don't see a difference. But far easier to blame the citizen using their vote than the actions of the politicians who ignore the suffering.

There's your Gotcha.

(13,283 posts)like Hamas, Hezbollah, ISIS, Iran, and Syria,
AND
if there were any genocide to support in Gaza.
As things stand today, neither one of your concerns is a big ass (or a small ass for that matter) consideration for not supplying arms to either Ukraine or Israel. Let's just call it a no ass difference.
And, as we have seen in the case of Ukraine, inaction in Congress to supply Ukraine on a timely basis is not working out too well for the US or its allies.

(13,283 posts)If I wanted to watch random videos featuring authors of classic Palestinian literature, I could have done it without your assistance (but I appreciate the effort regardless). This particular one does not go into US supplying arms to its allies or reasons why not doing so is a bad idea.
And, forgetting for a moment that Israel is not Netanyahu, what exactly does his alliance with Hamas entail? Isn't he the one, based on your associating him with Israel, kicking the shit out of Hamas? Some ally he is!
Autumn
(48,962 posts)Netanyayhoo is kicking the shit out of Hamas? More like kicking the shit out of the innocent civilians and children in Gaza while Hamas leaders kick back in Qatar.
Beastly Boy
(13,283 posts)Not even a hint of it in the entire clip. So what is it doing in a thread about US quietly approving and delivering more than 100 military sales to Israel?
And what do you call over 10,000 dead terrorists? An amicable alliance?
Autumn
(48,962 posts)fucking posted it. That's your complaint? What do you call starving and murdered children and women? Terrorists? But of course.
Beastly Boy
(13,283 posts)I called terrorists terrorists. Makes me wonder why you are referring to them as starving and murdered children and women.
How hard can it be to make a fucking obvious distinction between the two?

Autumn
(48,962 posts)Not. They are being murdered. Those women and children that are starving are not fucking Hamas. And the dead ones are fucking dead.
Since you can obviously tell the difference between innocent women, children and Hamas perhaps offer your services.
Beastly Boy
(13,283 posts)This is what I've been telling you, over and over again, apparently to no effect.
Now you tell me: why is it that you bring up not fucking Hamas every time you respond to posts that talk about fucking Hamas, or other enemies of America?
Do you usually respond to a subject in a post with a random not subject of that post? That kind of defeats the purpose of a response, no?
