another term? I've just heard references to it, and of course it sounds disgusting, but not surprising. It's been painted as beyond the pale, and a cautionary tale of what this election will descend into.
Well...they just ran it on CNN. I saw Biden pausing for long periods between words and I started to fast forward, but saw the heading on the screen about Biden not surviving another term.
Personally, I hope Dems counter with any of the many horrible videos available of cheato, show him up close in all his sweaty orange sliminess, and incoherent babbling. We really need to fight back, and we have so much material to work with.
As I've heard even some very cautious former members of the Obama administration admit lately, the days of when they go low, we go high are
over.
Edited to add that of course it ends with Kamala laughing, just to throw in the requisite sexism/racism.

I take a little bit of comfort in the fact that we haven't heard Biden say "my friends across the aisle" in a long time.

(11,435 posts)Nikki Haley, the not-so-moderate Republican, was touting a similar trope--that a vote for Joe Biden was really a vote for Kamala Harris for president.
The implication, of course, was that Biden would die in office and the scary/incompetent Harris would then take over.
Ooooo. Beware, beware.
Republicans are never subtle, even when they try.

(20,256 posts)I just object to the assumed narrative that Dems are just going to take it. Why should we when there are videos of cheato that are far worse?

(12,845 posts)"If (when) Biden dies, his VP -- who is black and a woman -- would become president."
They can't argue about his first term achievements, which even Fox has grudging acknowledges, so they've only got two reasons to vote against Biden: (1) the border, and (2) a black woman will become president if he dies.
That's it.

(16,008 posts)Upon first hearing about the reference to whether Biden would "survive another term", it immediately rang alarms about stochastic terrorism. Whoever put the ad together did so knowing full well that there are some trumpsters who will hear that phrase as marching orders, placing both Biden and Harris at the top of their target list.

(11,531 posts)I wondered where that was coming from. Ive been countering that he is basically healthy and not likely to die in office while Trump is already in the early stages of dementia and will most likely be incapable within a year of taking office.

Along with the nonsense words, he seems to think Obama is still POTUS and that unless we come to our senses we'll find ourselves in World War II before we know it.

Both the part where Joe speaks slowly and

(10,248 posts)... it's not subtle. In fact, it's too obvious and stupid. I think the best, most effective negative ads are a bit more subtle... this makes the viewer feel like they stepped in it. Better ads make you feel like you just smell it. I hope Dem/Biden ads are better. See what meets independent viewers halfway, and take it slowly from there.

(95,853 posts)This is another swift boat crap, and I have no doubt they will be saturating the airwaves with this garbage, and if the MSM does what they did with Kerry, i.e. giving free airtime to analyzing this crap, by continuous playing of it as a news story, instead of charging them for ad time, like they did the swift boat ads against Kerry, it won't surprise me.
What Biden, Democrats, and the Democratic PACs need to do is start saturating the airwave about the orange deviant, his insane rants, mixing up who he is running against, his refusal to send in the National Guard to stop his insurrectionists from attacking the capital police, and trashing the capital, and his pledge to pardon those deplorables.
We need to start doing it now!!!

Moreover, theres the question as to who Individual One would choose as his Veep. While I believe that Kamala Harris could do a good job, I think Donnie would choose a sycophant with loyalty as his first quality and competence as his distant second.

(3,309 posts)but there is nothing wrong with defending yourself when you are being insulted and deliberately being attacked with lies.
Plus the difference is what they accuse Democrats with usually are lies, and the majority of the time things Republicans are accused of are true. So there's a high ground right there, we use fact to belittle and berate them, with out lying.
senseandsensibility
(20,256 posts)And it does seem like a failure to defend yourself against unfair attacks will just be seen as weakness or an admission that the attacks are true.

BlueKota
(3,309 posts)and not just with insults to Trump, but with ads to scare the crap out of people, who think having a dictator wouldn't be so bad. Show them real historic photographs of detention and death camps, mass burial footage. Heck show coat hangers and ads with woman with high risk pregnancies being denied medical care, then end with the noise a heart monitor makes when it stops, and ask father's if this is what they want for their daughters or granddaughters.
It's time to wake people up to the fact that dictatorships don't just put the people you don't like in danger, but you and those you love there too.
I saw the documentaries on Aushcwitz, and about little girls, being thrown down wells, and left to die because of China's one child per family rule, so family's could try again for a boy. Read about what Stalin did to his own people. I'm not exaggerating when I say I'd rather be dead then have to live through something like that. It has to be stopped from happening here at all cost.
