(36,631 posts)It gives them punditry, a horse race, and age, probably to keep them from focusing on real issues and the real candidates. This creates reasons for more campaign ad dollars.

(17,614 posts)on ABC with David Muir and his cohort, I heard twice from them " Trump ahead of Biden in the polls". I usually like David Muir, but they didn't have to lead into the speech with that nonsense.

Cynical? Sure. It comes from experience.
But I'm loving the glow of the moment.

(5,410 posts)He told the story of our recovery very well, the one that the media has been failing to tell...
And the Republican response was weak, whiny and cry-babyish---
telling a false tale of misery that is completely opposed to the actual economic facts!
What the hell was that, anyway? I hear tell that even some Republicans were disappointed with the over-wrought manner of the attempt by Senator "whiny Katy" to induce tears in the audience in her SOTU response...
Get the girl a whole box of tissues!!!

(23,398 posts)CNN and cable news talking heads are able to hurt a president's changes by 32 points, by playing horse race both-sides-do-it he-said she-said news reporting.
None of what Biden spoke of was out of the ordinary or beyond expectations for your average DU'er. We know Biden. We know democrats. Democrats get policy done, republicans are all side-show do-nothings who work for America's adversaries and the uber rich.
I hope someone in the media sees what the polling showed from last night. The media is hurting our country's chances of remaining a democracy by doing everything in their power to level the playing field, kneecap Biden with as much negative news slant as possible to keep an otherwise blowout election from occurring. It's 2016 all over again.

(64,323 posts)RW media will obviously be emphasizing the few times he stumbled verbally, but if Pres Biden retains even two thirds of that spike long term, it gives him something to build on going forward. With some good work on the ground, it's blue tsunami time in November.

(12,531 posts)Or why Trump was screaming about immediate debates. This is the power of the Bully Pulpit and Joe Biden knocked it out of the park.
I think we'll refer to this in the future as:
The Great Reset.
Congrats, Mr. President. You so deserve the accolades and upswing in approval numbers.
Let's get this thing done!

(20,584 posts)Fox's slo-mo footage of Joe moving around could only fool 'em for so long.
Now Fox will have to come up with some other AI generated bullshit to make Joe look old and feeble.
What a way to put the liars to shame!!!! A man in office that's actually WORKING and getting things done....
