"Though the illustrious Robbie Kaplan is strong enough to yank a golden toilet out of the floor at Trump Tower and toss it through the window, this bond saves Robbie the trouble of showing up with US Marshals on Monday to do so."

(10,299 posts)The former president obtained an appeals bond from the Virginia-based Federal Insurance Company totaling $91,630,000 to cover the $83 million judgment in the case plus interest, according to a court filing Friday morning.
That money will eventually go to E Jean and the insurance company will be left holding the bag.

Insurance companies know how to manage risk. It's what they do.

(76,693 posts)Given what we know about insurance companies, they aren't losing this one.

(8,876 posts)Maybe someone better versed in law will correct me if I am wrong. But I read he has to put up the moohla if he wants to appeal any of these cases. IOW, more delays

(405 posts)Maybe they liened assets, or maybe Vlad or Chainsaw guaranteed the money? Or they own a significant part of the insurer? Or threatened them? Who knows what happens behind criminality?
ProfessorGAC
(76,693 posts)As long as Chubb has assets to support the bond, they probably don't care, as long as it's legal.
There's too much risk to their business & reputation if they get involved in extralegal chicanery.
But, how the cash is underwritten is something we likely will never know.

(10,299 posts)Court records filed Friday show that the bond was guaranteed by the Chubb Corporation, an insurance group. In 2018, Trump appointed Chubbs CEO Evan Greenberg to a White House advisory committee for trade policy and negotiations.

(745 posts)Insurance company Chubb underwrote the bond for Trump, which the former president signed on Tuesday. Under the terms of the bond, Chubb will only secure the appeal of the $83.3 million judgment, not any future appeals.
Hoping this works:
