(6,240 posts)It's how I felt when I went home in 2020 for health problems knowing it was a one way trip.
It's how I felt in 2022 when I held her for the first time in two year when I got back to China.
It's how I felt when I saw her in the Bangkok airport when she came here to do her visa interview.
I just want to make up all the time we've been forced to separate. I feel I will spend my life doing that as the guilt may never go away.
I'm not an overly emotional man, but this and Three Doors Down "Here Without You" hit me hard.
BTW, I grew up near Montgomery, NY

(5,437 posts)and I used to stop off of I-84 right there off Highway 208 and stay at the Super 8. There was a great small deli/store right across the road. Great fresh made dinner plates to go and of course deli. Because I was always passing through I never got the time to spend the time roaming the countryside. I traveled the Southern Tier on state roads all the way from the valley bridge all the way to Pennsylvania. Through the years I traveled through the Finger Lakes, Watertown, Lake Placid, Saratoga etc. But like so much of my travels in life I didn't get to spend time.
I'm glad you liked the song. The vocal and left channel guitar is John Hurlbut and the right channel is Jorma Kaukonen.

(5,437 posts)I got to know the husband and wife a bit who ran the little deli. Real nice folks. That was back in the late '90's/early 2000's.

It expires after 6 months? What do you have to do to make things permanent? You don't have to keep renewing every 6 months I hope.

(6,240 posts)SHe must enter by July 31st or else the visa dies.
When she enters, she will have her actual green card 45 days later. It's good for 10 years then we need to renew.
She will have her SSN. . .my parents bought us a house for our 10th anniversary.
Because she's married to an American, the wait for going for her citizenship drops from five years to three. We can start in 30 months (2.5 years).
After she gets her citizen, she will sponsor her parents on an IR5 to get them here on a green card (parents visa). That will be easier. All she needs to do it prove they are her parents. Her birth certificate does that.

Congratulations again. It's so cool to see good things happen.

(33,273 posts)In her interview - at all.
Applying for citizenship is not a guarantee she will get it. Engage an attorney at the two year point to ensure the N400 is accurate and she has a coach to get her through the process.
Good luck!

(63,747 posts)Even with some personal info blacked out that's too much info in the internet.
Congratulations. I'm happy for you both.
there are tools that can "unredact" images.
Just saying.
Posting an identity document online is, well, no nice way to say it, kinda stupid.
Polybius
(17,279 posts)If that were the case, we'd get to see what the redacted JFK files said.
What they can do however is put fake info in its place.
