17. Let us not forget

Kate Jackson and Emmy Lou Harris are from Alabama. Even our own Deb Bowman is from Alabama.

Britt’s shameful performance may conform to some people’s image of what they think American women (and Alabama women in particular) should be. But it didn’t conform to an image of a woman with the slightest bit of self-respect.

I have to wonder, after the massive negative reaction from both ends of the spectrum, is Britt even aware of how poorly she did? And if so, what’s her reaction? Is it “What was wrong with it?” Or was it “Are you happy now? How did I ever let you talk me into performing that awful farce?”

If her reaction was “What was wrong with it?” there is no hope she’ll ever be more than a prettier version of Tuberville who manages to put sentences together without needing fourth grade remedial help. If her reaction was the latter, there may be some hope for her down the road, but for now, she had better check into a trauma center that treats third degree burns, because that’s what her own party just did to her.
