Before you rant, this is sponsored by The Bulwark, which is overtly pro-Biden in this election. The purpose is to understand elements of the electorate and what their thinking is as we move in to the General Election. Trump HAS gained Black voters and understanding why is the first step to adjusting our campaign message.

(96,882 posts)Too many liberals seem to box all Black voters into a "racism" issue mindset as opposed to economics, health care, schools, neighborhood crime.....

(2,282 posts)What is the slob father going to do about any of these issues? Why do some people continue to vote against their interests and question minority voters? The majority of white voters would vote for an authoritarian idiot who will destroy our country . Minorities are not stupid most of us know if he is elected it will be all about race ,woke,Muslims , gay, Transgender any one who is not white and male.

(96,882 posts)You can't assume that everyone (Black or White) is as informed about issues as you are. To a lot of voters (esp. non-college educated) Trump is "rich" so he can help them become rich.

nb: one of the first lessons I learned as a Ward Committeeman was: don't assume that the voters see things the way you do.

Oh, I get it. This is like listening to Rush Limbaugh everyday so Dems can "understand Humpty Dumpty Trumpty voters"
Or, maybe "Chickens for Colonel Sanders" is just KFC propaganda.

The reasons they give for trump being a preferable alternative to Biden, are pretty superficial.

(17,416 posts)Retrumplican talking points need to be spewed on Democratic Underground.
Either this Focus Group was put together so "Dems can reach out to the unreachable", or it's designed to support the latest Retrumplican self-fulfilling prophecy.
I imagine you could find a "Rape Victims for Donnie Dipshit" Focus Group if you looked under enough rocks, but I doubt we'd learn anything from listening to them.

(35,066 posts)within my family and friends circle. None have admitted to thinking about voting for trump but they're tossing around the idea of staying home this fall. The common thread is SOCIAL FUCKING MEDIA.
The thing is, we have legitimate grievances that are never addressed but I've been reminding people that the issues that are being tossed about on social media are not new or unique under President Biden. The first step to changing things is to be consistent and to understand that one president alone cannot fix it. There's no need to vote for or enable a fascist who rolls with a bunch of white supremacists. Staying home will only make things worse.
Anyway, I'm going to pressure the hell out of everyone prior to the elections. In some cases, ultimatums will be issued. Anyone who assists in subjecting me to another 4 years of trump might get cut off, permanently.

(2,809 posts)This right here, people being apathetic and staying home is a real problem. The majority of people cannot seem to grasp the concept of the long game and how long it takes to get anything done. It drives me crazy to hear it from young, and old alike, that they may as well not vote. If you can't be counted on the politician will need to court the votes of those that do, and I guarantee they don't want anything that's going to directly help you.Oh it might help you in passing because its common sense policy but its not going to address any direct grievances. While this isn't a new phenomenon, it is one that's been exacerbated by Tiktock, Instagram and Youtube pseudo intellectuals offering incomplete views gassing folks up about everything from Ukraine to school lunches.

Think. Again.
(22,456 posts)It might be anti-trump, but it is certainly not pro-Biden.
From the DU 'Terms of Service':
Do not post right-wing talking points or smears. Do not post content sourced from right-wing publications, authors, or pundits. Exceptions are permitted if you provide a clear reason for doing so that is consistent with the values of this website.
Why we have this rule: News media and the Internet are already awash with conservative propagandists attacking our candidates and our values -- we're not interested in providing them with another outlet. We understand that many of our members might hold some conservative viewpoints on isolated issues, but nobody here should be parroting hateful garbage from the RNC, the NRA, or the Family Research Council. Forum members should expect that the only time they'll have to read a right-wing smear or an article from Breitbart is when someone is pointing and laughing at it."
