I just gained a lot more respect for France's President Macron.
This is the actual telephone call between Macron and Putin 4 days before the Invasion of Ukraine.
It's a very tense conversation and shows Putin's extreme delusions about what was happening in Ukraine.

(3,110 posts)1. Wow, that was really compelling.
Macron was really working to get Putin to commit to talks to avoid violence.
I thought it was really weird at the end, when Putin stated out of the blue that he was at the gym and was going to go play ice hockey later.

praised the invasion and pooty's "Savvy genius". Will be a "great peacekeeping force". Remember that?

Even more ironic to hear him lecture France over seperatists given the current Russian Kalmyk movement, the autonomy and separatism movements within the Northwestern Federal District, the Ingria problem, the Karelian question, Chechen and Circassian nationalism, and the other 20 or so I can't remember offhand that Putin has miserably failed to solve, overcome, or deal with any measurable and meaningful way.
