Watching local news here in Atlanta most of the legal pundits seem to think she and the Fulton County DAs office will be removed
from the case. The Judge will keep the case alive though another DA will have to take over. ( For all intents and purposes it will be dead though)
FYI, Gov. Kemp just signed a law (I think he signed it yesterday) that allows the removal of DAs
Even if this Judge keeps Fani and staff on the case you can bet this new law is going to be used to remove her.

(28,776 posts)The judge can remove her from the case
but she would still be DA. The legislature could fire her (whether the judge rules for or against her)
Wade, of course, would lose the job if hes removed by the judge

(28,776 posts)Most of the DA's in the state wouldn't press this case.
And if she's removed by the state legislature - the Governor appoints her replacement

(11,280 posts)I'm not sure how, because the state bar is going to be all over all of them over what's come out. But I just don't get a sense this judge wants to be responsible for the entire case going to hell. He's a Republican, but he doesn't strike me as a MAGA type. Plus, he's only 34 (I know he looks way older). Who wants to tie their oar to Trump's sinking ship? He knows what it would look like for a Republican judge to wreck an entire Democratic DA's office. Like or not, he'd be associated with it forever. I think the dismissal of the six counts was his way of saying, "See? Being totally fair here. Trump got something, Willis got something."
My final gut feeling/prediction: Decides to go with a higher standard than appearance. Keeps Willis but gives her lots of stern words. Tells her she has to get rid of Wade, because Wade is where the conflict of interest arises.
Wild Card: What happens with forensic misconduct (i.e. the Church Speech). She did go into a historic Black church and more or less lie her head off while calling everyone involved a racist and claiming God told her to prosecute Trump. That . . . is not something a prosecutor should be doing. And it's not something anyone should want a prosecutor doing no matter what their politics are.
Wouldn't it be weird if he leaves the conflict of interest alone and DQs based on forensic misconduct? That would be interesting. No matter how he comes down on that, I'm really curious about what he has to say on the matter.
Anyway. I finished all my work and homework today so I have tomorrow free. I'ma be glued - glued! - because I have been following this stupid soap opera so closely.

(24,486 posts)At best, it allowed the Trump team to open the door to an investigation and delay the court proceedings for a month even if there was no wrongdoing by Willis. But she didn't avoid the very appearance of wrongdoing. I think her poor decision in choosing this relationship has likely trashed her reputation so I hope it was worth it for her. And she had previously been doing so well.
At worst it has given Trump a good laugh.
