tRump could so easily post a statement simply and clearly stating "I do not condone violence. I want all my supporters to be calm whatever the election result. I only meant a metaphor for the auto industry."
He could easily but won't.
And that is the real tell.

(7,638 posts)Trump is very good at speaking like that to his cult. They are not concerned about context. They hear the message loud and clear.

It was that one that got me thinking. Of course he can say something! He might but at best it will be late and weasily trying to gain plausible deniability.
Voltaire2
(13,231 posts)He echoed the other interpretation: the literal bloodbath, soon after the auto bloodbath, claiming that if he lost that would be the last election.
There is deliberate framing and word choice here. Theyve been consistently claiming that elections are fraudulent. Not only claiming but actually violently attempting to prevent the constitutional process. This campaign of theirs has not subsided since J6, its amplified. There are local groups all over the country, well funded groups, deliberately trying to take control of elections and change the election processes.
We are looking at an outcome in November between an Orban style fascist regime and a likely insurrection much larger than J6.
Because our government has failed to suppress an organized and well funded conspiracy to overthrow the constitutional government, that conspiracy (which is pretty much out in the open) is poised to take power through the legal process, allowing it to claim legitimacy and actually making it much more dangerous than an illegitimate regime.
But yeah, the context.
Perhaps the context needs some context.

(13,231 posts)has been charged with conspiracy to overthrow the government- with sedition. That should have happened within weeks of the failed coup. Every one of these shitheads should have been held without bail until tried. They were and are a clear and present danger to our republic.

This is a pattern with him. When will some of our fellow Dems (and DUers) see that?
Sneederbunk
(14,315 posts)... think about it. Throughout the months leading up to his nomination and throughout ALL of his 2016 campaign, Trump encouraged violence against those who dared to question him, and more than a few people were seriously injured by the bags of rat shit that believed him when he said he'd pay their bail and legal bills if they beat the shit out of journalists, or anyone else he singled out, which they did, repeatedly. And that was when he was just running for the attention a malignant narcissist craves. Now he's running for his fuckin' life. Literally. And you don't think he means it? Seriously?
He told the J6ers to fight. So they did. And people died and hundreds went to prison. Now his wealth and freedom are in the crosshairs, and you don't think he'd kill to stay out of prison?
You're not paying attention, ol' son.

(3,351 posts)He's already got some who have sent bombs (that failed) to media and the Obamas. Then there was the one who was going to shoot up an FBI office.

I'd say Heinze and Hunts stock is a good bet.
GiqueCee
(644 posts)... is so named because the violence is the point, not any particular victim. A targeted murder can, in a sense, be compartmentalized; random acts of homicidal terrorism are all the more horrific because it doesn't matter WHO dies, just that SOMEBODY dies. Which means that it could be you, or me.
And, as insane as he is, he ain't about to jeopardize his ketchup supply!

(49,054 posts)But he has not condemned the implied violence from his supporters. Which he could easily do. Since he has not condemned the implication his supporters would be bloodily violent if he lost, it has the effect of a call.
Yes, technically, "imagination and conjecture" are required on both parts D/R to envisage violence for or against various entities. But the claim by the reich wing is that only Ds are imagining things.
Your invocation of "imagination and conjecture" was terse and it was not clear as to whether you were talking down the idea of tRump calling for violence or if you were talking about the imaginations of magas converting his words into actions or talking about the envisioning of violence.
So "Huh?" right back at you.

A few days after election day, and the election has been called for Biden by all major news outlets, and after most of the bodies have been identified: "I never meant for this to happen. To deny or over devalue the effect of his words, explicit or misunderstood, is short sighted. He knows what he's saying. He knows the RW takes its marching orders from them.
Is it free speech, or is it a call to some illegal action? Do we clog courts with this crap. He's running out of road. A lot of the delays in his trial so far actually remove a corresponding ground for appeal after he's found guilty. For example: he delayed a couple of weeks with Fani Willis' love life. So now he doesn't get to appeal the final guilty verdict and take months staying out of jail.
He's running out of road.

(49,054 posts)I can understand his taking over the RNC, but the way it has unfolded has shown his desperation.
He (through his robot Lara Trump) is shutting out GOP candidates, focusing on constricting the vote (suing Michigan for starters) while also pushing one single tactic: "ballot harvesting". They have vowed that every penny will go to tRump's campaign.
That's desperation.

Who pays for tariffs? Not the exporters. The customers.
Talk about inflation!
And why? Oh, maybe it's because he's trying to get Elon Musk to support him, and Musk will benefit because his Teslas will suddenly look cheaper?
So there won't just be a bloodbath on voters... but on the economy and the auto industry and the people who want to buy cars.
Bernardo de La Paz
(49,054 posts)I agree with most of your points. tRump has made overtures to Musk, but if 100% tariff on 100% of vehicles is his way of courting him, it is very odd to say the least.

Right now, shithole's newly complete take over the RNC where they are beginning to sue states of voting violations. Why?
Right now, aggressive spouting of violence "if" shithole loses, why?
Right now, corporate media is still kissing shithole's arse, why?
But alas, one factor, if I believe it or not, VP Pence said he will not vote for shithole and right now, has shithole condemned him for it. But it's still early.
