One of the intrinsic issues with humanity is that individuals for the most part do not understand consequences as they pertain to themselves. I cannot begin to tell you the number of people whom I have known who have performed some illegal act, justified it to themselves, and believed that they could justify it as well to the law-enforcement authorities, and then the judge. Individuals, and I am no exception, Have relationships, sever ties, obfuscate (to be polite), steal, Enter businesses, or professions, and sometimes even write posts for websites, without considering what may happen to them, if things go awry.
Now in the context of our favorite website, I would extend this to those who back a candidate or candidates who clearly elucidate their vision for conservatism, repression and retribution against perceived enemies. The vast number of individuals feel that they are sufficiently anonymous that this will not pertain to them personally, nor to their families and friends. An example of this occurred during the 1980 campaign for the presidency in which Ronald Reagan went to Pittsburgh, donned a hardhat, and joked with all the steel workers about welfare queens, and the like, as though he were one of the boys and the steelworkers were members of his Club.
We all know what happened to steel industry once Reagan became president and those jobs are never coming back to the United States . I guarantee you that every single one of the steelworkers who thought that Ronny was a great guy, had no idea that he, or she would be affected directly in such an untoward manner.
And so it is with this tinhorn Mussolini, who is running for the presidency. There is no question that there is a capability and a desire and willingness to jail political opponents, if not exterminate them. Anyone who believes that there is a limit to this mans Nazi-like desires, and motivations, is utterly and completely fooling him or her self . The consequences will be dire for a great many people in this nation should he be sent to a throne : because the seat will become a throne and not a presidency.
The vast number of people reading this post know this, and I am aware that I am preaching to the choir , but it is imperative, that when we talk to so-called lower information voters, that we let them know in no U.N. certain terms that their world may be permanently turned upside down if he is elected.

(25,749 posts)"legitimize" bad behavior patterns as a "reward" for membership. Examples are hate, racism, theft, and a constant buzz.
All are ultimately self-destructive and benefit only a boss, cult leader or beverage/drug dealer/industry.
That said: I offer this list to people talking to young folks "on the fence" with Biden about an issue.
ACTIONS or NON ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES.
Your alternative dystopian future.
Government dictates what you read, your religion and your private life. Period trackers mandatory, and report to the government.
Climate change threatens life throughout the globe as big oil trashes the environment.
More welfare for the rich.
Americans pitted against each other along lines of race, color, religion, gender, sexuality, and income. Vilification of blacks, Jews, Muslims, lgbtq+ , homeless, and women of strength, with increasing violence, even murder against them.
Private health care companies deny needed treatments to save money. (Death panels are here!)
The wealthy pay even less in taxes.
Every civil right is eroded by clown judges living in the 18th century rewriting the constitution.
Worker's rights and benefits reduced in order to create greater profits for businesses.
Safety nets removed, so that homeless, and jobless people are left to die on the streets.
More, more, more of culture war.
GUNS, everywhere, with no limitations or requirements. Kids get them freely.
Minorities and women blamed for every imaginable blip.
Support of authoritarian regimes across the globe, who eagerly imprison, "re-educate", murder and commit atrocities on others.
Lies, hate speech and threats are welcomed on "social media" and given support by government officials.
Medical care and prescription drug costs skyrocket.
OH, AND A MERCILESS AND VICIOUS WAR AGAINST WOMEN.
PERSECUTION AND PROSECUTION FOR ASSERTING ANY RIGHTS AT ALL.

(25,749 posts)There are those famous D's (an appropriate grade) .... deflect, deny, and so on. I forgot the entire list, but three R's might include:
Russia
Repression
Racism
Of course, the list could go on and on. I get suggestions for my list above.
Russia first. (which could be their motto, IRL)

(4,815 posts)On the 20th of the next 7 months you should do a follow up so we all keep alert and on our toes to the real perils we face. Even though we are the choir we still need a kick in the ass once in a while. The presidential election this November is not your typical father or mother's presidential election. This one is for all the marbles. Winner takes all, possibly forever. It is so scary.
