Welcome back to the Top 10 Conservative Idiots! Yoooooooooooooooooooooo!!! Brazil! What the fuck is up? We made it! We are here! How cool is that? We’ve been having so much fun since we got here and you guys sold us out! To commemorate this visit, we’ve got the famous Wheel Of Corruption here and we’re ready to rock, so let’s do this! So you might be asking “Why Sao Paolo?” to which we answer “Why not?”. We’ve been wanting to do something in South America for a while now and the opportunity presented itself, so we took it! And we want to thank the good folks at the Visit Brazil tourism board who made this whole trip possible, give them a round of applause! And look, we admire Brazil. Why? Because you guys told Bolsonaro supporters and fascists to fuck off after they attempted to storm your capital building. Don’t you see? Playing with fascism and authoritarianism is like playing with fire! No good can possibly come of it! But we decided to embark on this South American excursion because we wanted to further explore the world in our attempts to understand how things work and how someone might, just might choose a leader like Bolsonaro or Trump. Hopefully we can make it so that never happens again. Yeah, I think we can all agree with that, right? Anyway we’re hanging out in Brazil and Argentina for this trip and yes we’re working with some folks to visit Ecuador and Chile at some point. And one thing we do love about South America is that you guys fucking rock! Yeah! Because of that, we got one of our favorite metal bands to play for us to celebrate this coming together! Yeah give it up for Sepultura! Come on! OK that’s enough of the intro, we have a lot of idiocy to get to. Hey kids, the Wheel Of Corruption is back! YAY!!!!!!!!!!! So, Brazil, where do we begin this week? Well the number slot this week – we’re going to do a Top 10 update. Four years ago, humanity was thrown into shambles because of the devastation caused by the COVID-19 lockdowns (1) and we’re going to answer the question that the MAGAs have been asking on social media – “Are you better off than you were 4 years ago?” and the answer is a resounding yes! In the second slot this week is that guy who we inexplicably used to call president (2) – yes, I know this comment is coming from a Trump rally, which we banned coverage of, but considering it even got Biden’s attention, we have to talk about it, and that’s his controversial “bloodbath” comment. And we’re pretty sure he wasn’t referring to the auto industry, despite what the idiots on social media are telling you. In the number 3 slot this week is Congress (3) and there’s apparently a bill that for some reason actually has bipartisan support – that could ban Tik Tok from the US. Is it legal? And could it happen? We’ll examine both sides of the argument! In the number 4 slot this week is the MAGA Qongress (4). Yes, the worst House ever once again attempted to impeach Biden and it blew up in their faces. This is what happens when you let a certain news network do all of your critical thinking for you! And speaking of news network fearmongering, in the number 5 segment is a new edition of We’re All Gonna Die (5) and this week – it’s the reboot nobody asked for, or wanted as Florida is reporting cases of diseases that were previously thought to be eradicated – measles and mumps! Thanks, anti-vaxxers! Also go fuck yourselves! In the number 6 slot this week is of course our weekly visit to the Holy Church Of The Top 10 in “Holy Shit” (6) and this week we’re going to examine claims made by Christian nationalists, and show you that nationalism isn’t just a uniquely American problem, it’s a global problem! Yup, Nazism version 2.0! In the number 7 slot this week is a new Beating A Dead Horse (7) and this week we’re going to examine claims made by the two biggest names in artificial intelligence and see – is there too much diversity? No, there is no such thing! In the number 8 slot this week is of course our weekly venture into the bottomless pit of online tin foil hat nuttery in Conspiracy Corner (8) and this week – our old buddy RFK Jr has selected a running mate and it’s… Aaron Rodgers? What the actual fuck??? I wouldn’t trust either of these idiots to run a Waffle House, let alone the White House! Holy shit. It’s been 4 years. 4 years since not just the USA, not just China, Russia, Europe, Africa, South America, Australia, India… the entire fucking world shut down to deal with a strange new virus that was going to cause 18 months of lockdown pain and destroy the global economy and kill people in the millions. Time flies, doesn’t it? We only knew the virus then as “coronavirus”. Which could mean any number of things. It was later known as COVID-19. You can search Top 10 history back to when we first started covering it too, when it was just a blip on page 4 (see: Idiots #8-5 ). Hell, we even got a warning from the Doomsday Clock that something really terrible was brewing (see: Idiots #8-4 ). You can even relive the year that followed if you like with our 2020 Year In Review edition (see: Idiots #9-19 ). So how do we commemorate the 4th anniversary of the lockdowns? Well, we’re going to answer the question that Trump has been pegging lately – “Are you better off than you were 4 years ago?”. The answer for most people who don’t live in the Murdoch / Fox News bubble 24/7 is a resounding yes. But it seems like MAGA has a collective blank on what actually happened in the year 2020. We don’t!

As Donald Trump tries to convince voters to send him back to the White House, his allies are dusting off Ronald Reagan’s playbook. “People look around and they say, ‘Am I better off now than I was four years ago?’ The answer to that is no,” Lara Trump said on Sean Hannity’s show Tuesday night. “You can compare very easily how much better your life was with Donald Trump in office and how much worse you are now that Joe Biden is in office.”

It’s a catchy line, one Elise Stefanik also dusted off earlier this month. But does Trump really want Americans to remember this time four years ago, when he botched the federal response to the COVID pandemic and put lives at risk? Just scan the headlines from early March 2020. Politico wrote how “Trump’s mismanagement helped fuel coronavirus crisis.” The Washington Post found that Trump’s administration “frittered away” “precious weeks” while the virus was spreading. The New York Times reported that Trump dealt with the crisis “by repeating a string of falsehoods.”

Much of this happened in public view. Remember when Trump predicted COVID would just “disappear”? Remember when he showed up to the CDC headquarters wearing a campaign hat? Remember when he claimed that Google was building a website to help people find COVID tests, and Google didn’t know what he was talking about?

Actually, I didn’t. I had forgotten almost everything I’m about to recount in this story. I have a feeling many others have forgotten too. Maybe it’s a human tendency to block out past trauma, or perhaps it’s more that so much has happened since. In today’s supercharged news cycle, an event can feel dated four days later, never mind four years later. Yeah seriously… does anybody remember 4 years ago? Does anybody remember having to ration out toilet paper or scrubbing down their groceries? Remember Insta-Cart and having to deal with delivery drivers because we couldn’t leave the house? Or having to do home haircuts? Going to the bar on Zoom night? Their favorite local watering holes and burger and pizza joints going under? Oh yeah those wer fun times! Remember reading about how the economy was tanking? About how refrigerator trucks were being used as makeshift morgues? And these idiots had the nerve to call COVID a hoax and played it off like it was merely a head cold. Oh and let’s not forget the economy! Which right now is doing better than ever despite what Fox News would have you believe!

Americans were more optimistic about their financial situations in January 2024 than they have been at any time since the pandemic began nearly four years ago, according to new data released Monday.

In the January 2024 Survey of Consumer Expectations, released by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Center for Microeconomic Data, more Americans expected to be better off a year from now than at any point since early 2020.

In January 2024, 34.1 percent of respondents said that in one year, they expected to be either much better off (5.1 percent) or somewhat better off (29 percent) than they are.

That’s the highest level since February 2020, when 42.9 percent expected to be better off one year out. In March 2020, when the pandemic started taking its toll on the U.S. and global economies, 31.2 percent expected to be better off the following year. In April 2020, that number dropped to 26.6 percent.

Seriously, even Fox admitted that the economy is doing well. So they can’t have that to ruin the 2024 election on. And it will be just in time for the next GOP president to take credit for it! But you know, another thing – does anyone else remember just how many people voluntarily sacrificed themselves because they believed the propaganda being passed around on social media instead of listening to the actual experts? Oh yeah, don’t think we’re letting them get away with that one! So while we were waiting for them to “contain” the virus (which didn’t happen), others acted like it was no big deal.

March 13th this week through April 7th next month commemorate the anniversary of what could only be called an intentional, racially-based mass murder of American citizens, planned and executed by Donald Trump and Jared Kushner for purely political purposes, and virtually ignored by the American mainstream media.

Elise Stefanik’s bizarre, “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?” question last week notwithstanding, on March 13th, 2000 Covid had begun to rapidly spread across the United States, despite Trump’s earlier promise that the virus would be “contained” and was “no big deal.”

So now the question is – did we learn anything from it? And I’m going to say probably not. Actually, no, that’s not true. We did learn something. We learned that half of the population is utterly psychotic and will not listen to the other half. We also learned a very hard truth – there *WILL* be another pandemic that will be *THAT* much worse than you would ever expect. We haven’t even hit what scientists call “the big one” yet. God help us when that happens! But usually after pandemics, most societies go through an age of enlightenment. We seem to be going in the opposite direction. So are we better off than we were 4 years ago? Yes! Even the RNC head admits it!

Newly elected Chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC) Michael Whatley accidentally said America is better off now than under former President Trump, during a Fox News appearance Friday.

Whatley attempted to argue that the country is worse off under President Biden’s leadership than it was four years ago with Trump in office, and that the country would improve if the former president were reelected, but he mixed up his words on air.

“At the end of the day, this comes down to a very simple contrast between President Trump and President Biden,” Whatley said. “Were you better off four years ago than you are today? The answer for this entire country is no. I mean, yes.”

“We are better off today, or, we will be better off under President Trump than we will under President Biden,” he stumbled. Whatley took over the leadership position last week. Since then, he has instigated a major reset for the party.

But when Trump makes what may be the most extreme comment he’s ever made – a comment that got denounced by President Biden himself – we can’t ignore it! Yes, he commented that there will be a “bloodbath” if he doesn’t get reelected in November. But what the fuck does that even mean? But you know it’s a fucked up week when Trump can say a comment like this and both sides drop and go “LET’S FIGURE IT OUT!!!” and it’s not even the top spot on the list this week! Former President Donald Trump warned Saturday that if he were to lose the 2024 election, it would be a “bloodbath” for the US auto industry and the country.

The remark came as Trump promised a “100% tariff” on cars made outside the US, arguing that domestic auto manufacturing would be protected only if he is elected.

“We’re going to put a 100% tariff on every single car that comes across the line, and you’re not going to be able to sell those guys if I get elected,” Trump said during a rally in Vandalia, Ohio. “Now, if I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the whole – that’s gonna be the least of it. It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country. That’ll be the least of it.”

The comment came in the midst of an extended riff on the auto industry, unions, the transition to electric vehicles and auto plants in Mexico. Trump has sought to woo autoworkers and appeal to voters in Rust Belt states by hammering on trade, tariffs and EV manufacturing. The events of Jan. 6 are a heavy presence throughout his campaign events, as Trump continues to decry the election he lost four years ago. As he often does, Trump opened Saturday’s rally with a recording of Jan. 6 prisoners singing the national anthem. Saluting the crowd, Trump then said he would issue pardons for the Trump-supporting “hostages” on the first day of his presidency.

“You see the spirit from the hostages. And that’s what they are — hostages,” Trump said in the opening words of his rally.

The Biden-Trump rematch is set to be an ugly race, in which both candidates will elevate the Capitol attack. Biden has continued to invoke Jan. 6 in his own speeches, warning that the outcome in November matters for the fate of democracy. The attack remains a political danger for Republicans and Trump’s campaign this year.

Former Vice President Mike Pence broke with Trump on Friday, announcing that he would not endorse him in 2024. On Jan. 6, Trump supporters at the Capitol called for Pence to be hanged after Trump made him a target for his refusal to aid efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

We certainly can! And yes we know what Trump means when he uses violent code language, it was a favorite tactic of Adolf Hitler. Look, we KNOW that his comments are about the auto industry, but it still doesn’t excuse them. But the question now is – was it literal or not? Well, the question of whether or not it was literal entirely depends again, on what news network you watch. If you watch Fox or Newsmax, you probably saw these headlines. These are real! Why yes, we watch Newsmax so you don’t have to! But if you saw MSNBC or CNN, the headlines will probably look drastically different.

When Donald Trump declared "If I don't get elected, it's going to be a bloodbath" during his rally speech in Ohio Saturday, two things were immediately and obviously true: That is a threat, and it's a literal one. No honest person could dispute that just hearing the snippet of the quote, in which Trump articulates, "It’s going to be a bloodbath for the country." Presented in the larger context, there can be zero honest doubt that this is a call for real-world violence.

In the same speech, Trump celebrated the January 6 insurrection at length, calling the people who ransacked the Capitol "unbelievable patriots" for attempting to steal the 2020 election for him. He also underscored the fascist ideology he was espousing by declaring that immigrants are "not people," and sneering, "But I’m not allowed to say that because the radical left says that’s a terrible thing to say." One doesn't need a doctorate in history to recognize this blunt dehumanization is typically used to justify genocide and hate crimes. Frankly, most people who stoke racist violence tend to be more subtle than Trump with the dehumanizing rhetoric.

We don't need to guess why Trump is doing this. As with the riot he incited on January 6, he views the threat of MAGA violence as a way to intimidate potential opponents into backing down. I think he's wrong. His threats will make most people more determined to stop him. The one problem, however? Many, if not most, Americans are not hearing about Trump's unsubtle promise to rain more violence down upon the country.

You know the old saying “Those who are willing to trade freedom for security do not deserve either one”. It’s a quote that’s attributed to founding father Benjamin Franklin. Of course, they didn’t live to see the internet era. Tik Tok is a social media app. You’ve probably heard of it. Well, the controversial surrounding Tik Tok has been in the news a lot lately, and none of it is good. Tik Tok first came under intense scrutiny during the COVID pandemic mainly for its’ parent company. A Chinese company that you might not have heard of called ByteDance. But the arguments for and against Tik Tok are both equally insane. And yes, a lot of it is playing off of internet conspiracy theory hysteria surrounding some very sketchy Chinese policies mainly tied to its’ dictator Xi Jianping. But why are they focusing exclusively on Tik Tok? Well it’s complicated. And if it’s not a full ban, then what is it? Well it’s also complicated.

The White House on Sunday reiterated support for a controversial bill meant to cut China's ties to TikTok by forcing the popular app's Chinese parent company to sell it -- or face a ban in the U.S.

At the same time, White House national security communications adviser John Kirby said on ABC News' "This Week," the administration acknowledges the concerns of many American users.

"I want to stress again, over and over, that this isn't about a ban," Kirby told "This Week" co-anchor Martha Raddatz. "We don't want to see a ban on TikTok. We understand there's a lot of people whose economic life relies on it."

He said the administration instead wants to see TikTok split from its China-based parent company, ByteDance, who staunchly opposes the legislation and maintains that the data fears around the use of TikTok are unfounded.

"We want to see divestiture from this Chinese company because we are concerned, as every American ought to be concerned, about data security and what ByteDance and what the Chinese Communist Party can do with the information they can glean off of Americans' use of the application," Kirby said.

Yeah… did you read the TOS? We’re going to assume probably not. And it’s insane how many Americans fall for conspiracy theories. If you read the TOS, it’s quite possible that they have things about selling your data in them. But this could be a losing issue for both sides of the debate, not just the MAGA conservatives. And if we’re going to focus on one company specifically for data mining, then why not go after all of them? Facebook, Twitter and Youtube, I’m looking in your direction. Yeah how come my Youtube blocks over 6,000 ads on one video when other pages only block maybe 5 or 10? That seems highly suspect! But if the goal is to protect consumers from Communist China, then why stop there?

The U.S. government, once again, wants to ban TikTok. The app has become an incontrovertible force on American phones since it launched in 2016, defining the sounds and sights of pandemic-era culture. TikTok’s burst on the scene also represented a first for American consumers, and officials—a popular social media app that wasn’t started on Silicon Valley soil, but in China.

On March 13, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill to force TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, to sell TikTok or else the app will be banned on American phones. The government will fine the two major mobile app stores and any cloud hosting companies to ensure that Americans cannot access the app.

While fashioned as a forced divestiture on national security grounds, let’s be real: This is a ban. The intent has always been to ban TikTok, to punish it and its users without solving any of the underlying data privacy issues lawmakers claim to care about. Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw said it outright: “No one is trying to disguise anything… We want to ban TikTok.”

But no matter who passes and signs the bill, it could potentially blow up in their faces. Tik Tok is one of the largest and most active social media apps out there. People make posting Tik Tok videos their entire careers. Even American politicians are reaching out for the youth vote on the app. So it’s a lose lose issue no matter who’s doing it. Yes, the problem lies strictly on ByteDance. If they’re getting rich off mining our data, then they should absolutely be scrutinized for it. But it could totally blow up in some faces and empower authoritarians. Neither of which are good things!

The proposed TikTok ban working its way through Congress could embolden authoritarian censorship abroad, experts warn, and shatter the United States’ reputation as an international champion of free speech.

The House of Representatives passed the Protecting Americans From Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act on Wednesday. The bill still needs a Senate vote, and then to be signed by President Joe Biden. If signed into law, ByteDance, TikTok’s Chinese parent company, would either be forced to sell TikTok, or the app would be banned from app stores, according to the bill’s proponents.

U.S. officials say the driving motivation to pass such a bill is to prevent TikTok from being used to disseminate Chinese propaganda or collect information on U.S. citizens for Chinese government use.

But to some critics of the bill, a ban would cede America’s moral authority when it condemns other countries over limiting their citizens’ internet access.

Americans could lose access to TikTok within months if a bill that seeks to force its Beijing-based parent company ByteDance to sell its stake is signed into law. But the popular video-sharing app's potentially swift demise depends on whether the bill can overcome a number of hurdles.

Lawmakers have long tried to regulate the platform because of its ties to China. They argue it threatens national security because the Chinese government could use TikTok to spy on Americans or weaponize it to covertly influence the U.S. public by amplifying or suppressing certain content.

TikTok has repeatedly stated that it would deny requests from the Chinese government for Americans' data. It also points to "Project Texas," an initiative that TikTok began in 2022 to safeguard American users' data on servers in the U.S. and ease lawmakers' fears.

The House Oversight Committee is holding a hearing Wednesday in the GOP impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden that will feature Hunter Biden’s former business partners Tony Bobulinski and Jason Galanis and former Rudy Giuliani associate Lev Parnas.

Parnas, a Ukrainian businessman who worked closely with former Trump attorney Giuliani in 2018 and 2019 to try to find damaging information on Joe Biden, began his opening statement by slamming former President Donald Trump and his associates for pushing what Parnas said were false claims against the Biden family.

“The American people have been lied to, by Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, and various co-horts of individuals in government and media positions,” Parnas said in his opening statement. “They created falsehoods to serve their own interests knowing it would undermine the strength of our nation."

Parnas maintained that there was no evidence of Biden family corruption involving Ukraine and that the baseless accusations against the president came from the Russian government.

A convicted felon and notorious fraudster interviewed by House investigators as part of the Republican-led impeachment probe into President Joe Biden sought a presidential pardon during the waning days of the Trump administration and refused to rule out asking for one if Mr Trump is returned to office.

The Republican witness, Jason Galanis, is scheduled to give evidence from a federal prison by remote video link on Wednesday when House Republicans convene a public hearing with several former business associates of Mr Biden’s son, Hunter Biden.

Galanis, who is known at the federal facility as inmate 80739-198, was questioned by House investigators in February about business activities he had participated in with fellow convicted criminal Devon Archer — a former business partner of Mr Biden’s son, as part of the House Oversight Committee’s long-running probe into the Biden family.

At the time, a source familiar with the outcome of the transcribed interview told The Independent that the jailhouse interview turned up nothing in the way of incriminating evidence or testimony linking the president to his son’s activities.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) used his opening remarks at a House hearing on the impeachment of President Joe Biden to opine on pipe bombs and cocaine.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) went off on Republicans during an impeachment hearing by claiming the inquiry is a “spectacular failure” that is “crashing to an end.”

Republicans in the House on Wednesday are seeking to push the impeachment probe against President Joe Biden forward by interviewing two former associates of his son, Hunter Biden. Republicans lawmakers claim the president profited from his family’s foreign business dealings as vice president under former President Barack Obama.

However, the inquiry has come to a halt recently as Republicans have yet to produce evidence showing Biden personally benefitted from the business decision of his family members. The White House has dismissed the probe as baseless and politically motivated.

Federal health officials warned this week that measles cases are on the rise both domestically and globally, with 58 confirmed cases in 17 states, including Florida, in the first three months of the year.

The 58 cases reported as of Thursday, March 14, are equal to all cases reported in 2023, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Monday in an advisory to health care providers. The agency said 93 percent of the measles cases were linked to international travel, and that destinations such as Austria, the Philippines, Romania and the United Kingdom are all experiencing measles outbreaks.

Florida made national headlines earlier this year after a measles outbreak was reported at Manatee Bay Elementary School in Broward County.

As of Monday, there have been 10 measles cases reported in the state since Jan. 1 — one in Polk County and nine in Broward County — data from Merlin, Florida’s reportable disease surveillance system, shows.

A measles outbreak at a Florida elementary school is the latest in a string of flare-ups in nearly a dozen states around the country as health authorities warn of rising cases of the preventable infection.

Health Department officials in Broward County have confirmed at least six cases of measles, a highly contagious viral infection once believed to have been eliminated in the U.S. that often leads to a rash, fever and cough. Measles can be especially dangerous and even deadly for children and babies.

The disease is easily preventable with a regular measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Nearly a dozen states have identified cases since December, and outbreaks have occurred in Washington state, Pennsylvania and now Florida.

Broward County Public Schools confirmed the first case on Friday in a third grade student at a Weston elementary school who had no history of travel, the Sun Sentinel reported. On Saturday, officials said the Florida Department of Health was investigating additional cases but did not say whether they involved students, teachers or school staff. A state database indicates there were six cases in Broward County, just north of Miami.

The Florida measles outbreak is expanding. As of Monday, health officials in Broward County confirmed an eighth case of the virus, including one in a child under age 5.

It’s unknown what connection the youngest measles patient has to Manatee Bay Elementary School in Weston, near Fort Lauderdale, where most of the cases have been identified. The spread beyond school-age kids was expected.

Cases are “not going to stay contained just to that one school, not when a virus is this infectious,” said Dr. David Kimberlin, co-director of the division of pediatric infectious diseases at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that as of Friday there have been at least 35 measles cases in 15 states in 2024 — most related to international travel. In January, there were nine measles cases in Pennsylvania, eight of them in Philadelphia. (If there are no more cases reported there as of early next week, the Philadelphia outbreak will be declared over.) Late Friday, Michigan’s health department announced that it, too, had identified a measles case — its first since 2019.

Jack Hibbs is a far-right anti-LGBTQ pastor, conspiracy theorist, and Christian nationalist who was invited by House Speaker Mike Johnson to deliver a prayer to the House of Representatives last month. That decision understandably did not sit well with several House members who denounced Hibbs’ views and questioned why he had been invited to speak in the first place.

Last week, Hibbs appeared on “The Line Up” program to discuss the controversy, where he declared that those who criticize or oppose Christian nationalism are a “systemic cancer” in this nation and are carrying out the agenda of “the Third Reich under Hitler.”

“The people that are labeling us as Christian nationalists are the ones who are for the destruction of the gender of a child’s biological birth,” Hibbs said. “They’re anti-family. They’re pro-LBGTQ. They are anti-borders.”

“They all have this also in common,” he continued. “They always mention democracy; they will never mention constitutional republic. They are for everyone’s rights and freedoms except those who they disagree with. These are literal cancers in a culture. These people are systematic—can I use their word?—systemic cancers.”

Mark Harris, an anti-LGBTQ activist and vice president at the Family Research Council, won a multi-candidate primary election in North Carolina’s 8th congressional district this week, barely crossing the 30 percent threshold he needed to avoid a runoff in a district that has been gerrymandered “to heavily favor Republicans.” In a victory speech, Harris called his primary victory over well-funded opponents “my David and Goliath moment.”

Harris was the Republican nominee in the state’s 9th Congressional District in 2018 and an exemplar of Christian nationalist political operative David Lane’s efforts to recruit right-wing pastors to run for political office. He was also backed by Christian nationalist pseudo-historian David Barton, Seven Mountains dominionist Lance Wallnau, and others. Harris initially appeared to win that year, but the election was so marred by fraud committed by a consultant Harris had been warned against hiring that the state election board refused to certify the results. When testimony by Harris’s own son undermined his claims, Harris chose not to run in the special election that was subsequently held to fill the seat. He became FRC’s vice president for Association of Churches and Ministries, which encourages pastors and churches to be more politically engaged to advance FRC’s “biblical worldview.”

Copeland’s claim is absurd, considering that Washington had been commissioned Commander In Chief of the Continental Army in June 1775 and was serving in New York when the Declaration was written over a year later in July 1776.

Copeland’s history just got worse and more confusing from there, as he attempted to explain what took place during Washington’s first inauguration in April 1789.

“He turned his Bible right there [to] the 17th chapter of Genesis, and he opened his Bible there at that place so the United States is one of the many nations,” Copeland claimed. “That’s the reason this country belongs to God, because of our first president … And he got on his knee and he kissed his Bible and he said, ‘You will be our God and we will be your people.'”

Copeland seems to be asserting that Washington placed his hand upon a Bible open to Genesis 17 while taking his oath of office (Genesis 17 being when God makes a “covenant of circumcision” with Abraham.) It is actually unknown precisely which passage was used during Washington’s inauguration, with professor Daniel Dreisbach explaining in his book “Reading the Bible with the Founding Fathers” that most likely “the Bible was opened in haste and at random to Genesis chapters 49 and 50.”

Elon Musk took aim at Google search on Friday after claiming the company’s AI business is biased and “racist,” expanding his attacks on the tech giant and fanning conspiracy theories it is working to rig the 2024 election amid intense backlash over diversity in its now-halted Gemini AI image generator.

“The problem is not just Google Gemini, it’s Google search too,” Musk said in a post on X, hours after the company “paused” its latest artificial intelligence model, Gemini, from creating images of people.

Musk said Google had “overplayed their hand” with AI image generation after the Gemini tool was discovered to be creating misleading historical images displaying a variety of genders and ethnicities in historically inaccurate contexts.

The errors—which Google said stem from the company’s efforts to tackle bias, improve representation and reflect its global user base in its model’s output—have laid bare the tech giant’s “insane racist, anti-civilizational programming,” Musk claimed, repeating a trope that “woke” diversity initiatives are somehow destroying Western culture and civilization.

On Thursday morning, Google announced it was pausing its Gemini AI image-synthesis feature in response to criticism that the tool was inserting diversity into its images in a historically inaccurate way, such as depicting multi-racial Nazis and medieval British kings with unlikely nationalities.

"We're already working to address recent issues with Gemini's image generation feature. While we do this, we're going to pause the image generation of people and will re-release an improved version soon," wrote Google in a statement Thursday morning.

As more people on X began to pile on Google for being "woke," the Gemini generations inspired conspiracy theories that Google was purposely discriminating against white people and offering revisionist history to serve political goals. Beyond that angle, as The Verge points out, some of these inaccurate depictions "were essentially erasing the history of race and gender discrimination."

The historically inaccurate images and text generated by Google’s Gemini AI have “offended our users and shown bias,” CEO Sundar Pichai told employees in an internal memo obtained by The Verge.

Last week, Google paused Gemini’s ability to generate images after it was widely discovered that the model generated racially diverse, Nazi-era German soldiers, US Founding Fathers who were non-white, and even inaccurately portrayed the races of Google’s own co-founders. While Google has since apologized for “missing the mark” and said it’s working to re-enable image generation in the coming weeks, Tuesday’s memo is the first time the CEO has widely addressed the controversy.

In the memo, which was first reported by Semafor, Pichai says the company has “been working around the clock” to address “problematic text and image responses in the Gemini app.” He doesn’t say that Google has fixed the problem. “No Al is perfect, especially at this emerging stage of the industry’s development, but we know the bar is high for us and we will keep at it for however long it takes,” he writes.

Well he speaks MAGA and sits on every right wing talk show out there. That’s about it.

A consultant for Robert Kennedy Jr.’s 2024 campaign registered the website for Kennedy and his potential vice presidential selection, New York Jets quarterback and fellow vaccine skeptic Aaron Rodgers, according to digital records reviewed by Rolling Stone.

Kennedy recently told The New York Times that Rodgers was on his shortlist for vice president — though he appeared to pop that trial balloon on Friday. “We have an extraordinary person, I can’t tell you who it is, but it’s not any of the people they’ve been talking about,” the candidate told supporters.

As Europe grapples with a costly glut of Covid-19 vaccines, a German man has taken it upon himself to help out — by injecting himself with more than 200 shots.

The 62-year-old man, from Magdeburg in Germany, said he received 217 shots of the vaccine over a span of 29 months “for private reasons.” Yet he showed no side-effects and boosted his immunity to the virus compared with those who received three doses, according to a study conducted by a team of researchers from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

“The number of memory cells was just as high in our test case as in the control group,” said Katharina Kocher, one of the leading authors of the study, published this week in the Lancet Infectious Diseases journal. “Over all, we did not find any indication for a weaker immune response, rather the contrary.”

Yeah apparently one woman in Lincoln, Nebraska found one in gas pumps of all things, and managed to exploit a loophole that allowed her to walk away with $27,000. But yes, the gas station finally caught on to what was happening and they “fixed the glitch”. Yeah where are the Bobs when you need them?

A gas station in Lincoln has fixed a glitch that allowed someone to pump thousands of gallons of fuel for free. … Dawn Thompson, 45, is charged with one count of theft by unlawful taking $5,000+. Police said she used an exploit to pump free gas for more than six months.

Lincoln Police got a call from Bosselman Enterprise’s loss prevention manager on Oct. 20, 2023. The manager got word from the Pump and Pantry near West O Street and Sun Valley Boulevard that someone had been participating in a fuel scam.

Upon further investigation, police learned that the fuel pumps received a software update in November of 2022. The update managed orders and reward cards, and it was made at the request of customers and staff. .. Unbeknownst to the company, however, the update was exploitable. It allowed anyone to swipe a rewards card twice to enter the pump into a demo mode. From there, the user could pump gas for free.

The loss prevention manager discovered one particular card had been repeatedly used to get free gas. By tracing the card’s information, police were able to identify Thompson, court records show.

A Florida man claims he was attempting to “flirt” with another traveler when he made a wisecrack about having a bomb in his bag at an airport, according to police.

Miami native Alan Borinsky, 70, told police he was “trying to be funny” when he made the remark at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Friday, according to an arrest report from the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

A Florida man was arrested Tuesday morning after he drove through a closed beach and into the ocean in Volusia County.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, shortly before 9 a.m., deputies were called to New Smyrna Beach after a vehicle drove around a closed gate and accessed the beach without paying the toll fee.

The sheriff’s office said the driver, Jason Brzuszkiewicz, told officials he wanted to drive on the beach; however, the deputy explained that the beach was closed because the tide was too high.

Washington — President Biden is set to visit East Palestine, Ohio on Friday, just over a year after a freight train carrying hazardous materials derailed in the small village near the Pennsylvania state line.

The derailment sparked serious health and environmental concerns for residents, who have expressed frustration over the federal government's response to the crisis.

Among the hazardous materials aboard the Norfolk Southern train was vinyl chloride, a substance used to make a variety of plastic products. Crews worked to vent and burn off rail cars carrying the vinyl chloride, which has been associated with an increased risk of various cancers and neurological symptoms, to prevent an explosion.

And although hundreds of residents were evacuated during the vent and burn, some of the residents who had evacuated returned and then started getting symptoms, such as rashes and respiratory problems. A year later, residents say they're still suffering health issues.

In fact take a look at this Dollar General store where stressed out, minimum wage workers finally had enough. And all of them quit in protest. So yeah we can call this one “Take this job and shove it!”.

Shoppers were greeted with a surprising notice when they arrived at a Wisconsin Dollar General store last week, the location was closed because the entire staff had quit at the same time.

A large green sign was posted Saturday morning on the front door of the store in Mineral Point, around 54 miles west of Madison, with the following message:

"The store is CLOSED. The whole team has walked away due to a lack of appreciation, being overworked and being underpaid."

A former associate of ex-Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani on Wednesday accused Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson of “doing the bidding” of Russia in his attempts to find evidence of corruption linked to the Biden family.

Lev Parnas, who worked with Giuliani to dig up damaging information in Ukraine on Joe Biden and his son Hunter in the runup to the 2020 election, mentioned the Oshkosh Republican as he described to the House Oversight Committee efforts from Donald Trump and allies to “manipulate the public” with unvetted information about the Bidens.

Parnas told the panel that Donald Trump, Giuliani and “various cohorts of individuals in government and media positions” lied to the public. He said accusations of Biden’s corruption “were untrue then, and they’re untrue now.”

From there, they single-handedly issued what may be the most batshit, completely off the rails ruling on abortion since the shocking overturning of Roe V Wade in 2022. In fact the ruling is so insane that we’re still trying to figure out exactly how the fuck MAGA conservatives were able to get away with it, and that other hard red states could be adopting similar measures. Just… what the absolute fuck!

The health and human services secretary, Xavier Becerra, said the US must provide federal protections for reproductive rights if Americans hope to avoid further restrictions on in vitro fertilization, contraception and abortion in an exclusive interview with the Guardian. Becerra’s comments come in the wake of an Alabama supreme court decision that gave embryos the rights of “extrauterine children” and forced three of the state’s largest fertility clinics to stop services for fear of litigation and prosecution.

The fallout from the decision prompted the Alabama legislature to hastily sign new legislation that will give IVF providers with immunity from civil and criminal suits, which the governor signed into law on Wednesday night. He said the events in Alabama were linked directly to the “take-down” of Roe v Wade, a decision that provided a constitutional right to abortion grounded in privacy and was overturned by conservative US supreme court justices in 2022.

“It wasn’t until this new court came in” – that is, that three new supreme court justices were confirmed by former President Trump – “that we saw the attacks on Roe v Wade take hold, and today without Roe v Wade there are women who are trying to have babies in Alabama who are facing the consequences,” said Becerra.

A group connected to anti-abortion, billionaire Trump mega-donors has funneled more than half a million dollars to an Alabama supreme court judicial candidate who said “embryos were human beings whose lives begin at fertilization”.

Alabama’s supreme court was thrust into the limelight earlier this month when eight of the court’s nine justices ruled that embryos created for in vitro fertilization (IVF) were “extrauterine children” in the eyes of the law.

The decision forced three of the state’s eight fertility clinics to stop providing advanced treatments, infuriated doctors, and left hundreds of would-be parents with few options for continuing treatment. At least one company that ships frozen embryos has paused business in the state, making it difficult to ship existing embryos elsewhere.

Donald Trump, now the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, has attempted to back away from the Alabama supreme court’s ruling. Trump reportedly sees extreme abortion bans as a threat to Republican victories. Republicans more broadly have struggled to respond to the decision.

Former President Donald Trump served as the keynote speaker for the 2024 National Religious Broadcasters’ International Christian Media Convention in Nashville Thursday. At the event, the conclusion of a three-day conference at Gaylord Opryland Convention Center, he pitched himself to Christian voters and previewed some of his proposed policies should he be reelected in November.

Hundreds of people gathered for the keynote, many of them sporting red-and-white “Make America Pray Again” hats. Other speakers included NRB president and CEO Troy A. — Vanderbilt University Medical Center is facing a federal civil rights investigation after turning the medical records of transgender patients over to Tennessee’s attorney general, hospital officials have confirmed.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ investigation comes just weeks after two patients sued VUMC for releasing their records to Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti late last year.

“We have been contacted by and are working with the Office of Civil Rights,” spokesperson John Howser said in a statement late Thursday. “We have no further comment since this is an ongoing investigation.”
